this may not be the place to ask it but what is a good small portbale video player that will play videos in mpeg4...also how much would it cost

Neither of those are any good as a video player. They both have really tiny screens. PSP is waaaaay better and it plays games too....plus the PSP also does mp4. If you don't want a PSP, I think Archos (not sure about spelling...French corp) makes good personal media players (PMP).  They come with big hard drives too.

go with an archos. They're expensive but a £500 one has 160 gb!!

I already have a psp i just want something smaller that i can carry my movies on.  I might consider the achro but thats a little more expensive than i was hopin to spend.

Thanks for the help...also i found this and i was going to buy it but a review said i had to pay $30 to play movies on it...does any one know if this is true??

I checked the site and didnt find anything talking about it (i coud have just missed it), but this is what the review on the site said.

"another thing that no one writes about is that in order to play video's you have to buy a program off there website which cost 30$ for both, MAJOR turn off."

Hmmmm...sounds like custom conversion software.  You might want to browse their site and see if they've put their manual online (pdf).  Lots of corps do.  While you're there you can check and see what the software is.

They were probably refering to codec plugins.  For example, if you want to play a video file which was encoded with ac3 audio, then you would need to buy the ac3 plugin of the archos site.  You'll have to check what codecs are supported out of the box for the archos model your intrested in.
