Cool! Video in browser support --finally. The folders are a nice addition, too. http://m.ign.com/videos/2013/04/09/introducing-playstation-vitas-new-firmware-update-210

Installed alrdy... it's quite nice! Especially now that you can play videos from your browser = win.

I'm not going to use folders on the main screen. But I would like to use folders for my pics.

I'm glad we finally have folders, i separate my games as follows:

  • PS+ IGC games
  • Purchased games
  • Demos
  • PSone titles.
  • Other various apps.

Conversely, it's a shame this rather amusing meme no longer applies :P

Installed it a little while ago and noticed that the top-right corner now displays a tiny icon showing which game card you have in the system.

anyone having any trouble with the update? its not a major thing but before the update swiping to activate the vita was butter smooth. now there is a bit of a pause while the "paper" is tearing away before it reaches the main screen. Also the icon that pops up when new messages for a game are available (a new trophy for example) is a bit messed up for a split second. i use the loco roco avatar. never a problem on the old firmware. not serious issues but of note. other than that nice update.

I don't see how that was ever relevant. Why would anyone purchase 3DS digital content anyway? Vita has a crapton of awesome digital content, and digital purchases are tied to the account instead of the console so I actually am willing to buy digital Vita games. Not to mention the fact retail games are ridiculously overpriced on 3DS eshop. Vita having folders is a legit cool thing because I have tons of digital content. 3DS having folders is useless because I have hardly any digital content.

But anyway, this update was a lie. They said video support in browser was added. That's a lie. Let me clarify what Sony didn't. It added youtube support in the browser. I've yet to find any other site the Vita can actually play videos of. And what's the point of youtube within the browser anyway? We have an app for that. As you can imagine, I was severely disappointed that no pron streaming sites worked.

I'll have to check it out, especially if it sorts games based on whether they are cartridge, PSN, PSOne, mobile, PSP or demo games.  Still not sure how it all works.

I agree with burgeg about the 3DS having Nintendo's usual crappy organization efforts.  It's a shame that the video might not work though, especially if that's a big focus of the patch.

To be honest, I haven't turned on my Vita in a good week or two now.  Kinda sad, but true.

So far I've gotten videos to work on IGN and Giant Bomb in the Vita's browser, had trouble with Gametrailers though.

I've noticed this as well.

I've also noticed that I seem to be signed into PSN right away, without loading an app or game, and stay signed in going from app to app.  It used to sign me in each time I opened a different app, for example; going from Group Message to my Friends List.

Out of interest, are we appearing online to PS3 users yet? It annoys me to no end that I send people messages but they think I am offline.

Actually, this (button-based input for system menus) was implemented several months ago. You probably just didn't know it.

I like how the entire interface for the firmware is now button-accessible. Some games forced you to switch to touch to get past UI pop-ups (normally when saving and loading) which require you to switch over the the touch screen. Kinda annoying when other than that the game is 99.9% button input. This firmware update has removed that.

It specifically mentioned it in the patch-notes for this update...which was how I came to know about it. Unless the roll-out for Japanese firmware has had features presented differently than before. There was definitely a lot of button-added features added at one point. But it wasn't full-on d-pad navigation like it was now.

I don't believe that has been fixed yet, and I assume that's an issue that would need to be patched on PS3.

I know I was using full D-Pad navigation as soon as it was implemented in August last year, and it was mentioned in the notes, though it had to be manually turned on. I don't think there was any button support in firmware menus before that update. That's interesting. It seems like Japanese firmware might actually be different.

Just downloaded it. I am loving the folders, it's nice that they're transparent too so you can still see your backgrounds ^^

I am thinking of pre-ordering Soul Sacrifice off of PSN, you get some nice pre-order bonus'. Has anybody else done this?

Seems that way. It would explain why it isn't a big deal to anyone else. And it was certainly a something in the latest update as I check the store almost daily (so I'd be up to date). Odd.

I downloaded the update, but I still can't tell what this folders business did.  Wasn't it supposed to change the 'bubble' dashboard?  Idk.  Maybe there's something I need to check in the settings to activate it first.  I'll mess with it later.

When in edit mode press down on any bubble and an option to create a folder-bubble will be included along with details/delete etc. You can then drag other bubbles into the folder bubble.

Nice update. I still wish they'd use the XrossMediaBar like the PSP had. I like the PS3 and PSP Vita too look the same.

So I checked it all out a little bit ago.  It's nice being able to conserve so much space, and the transparent bubbles are nice, but it's awkward looking at a bunch of tiny bubbles in one big bubble.

It looks like each individual 'bubble' has the same amount of space inside of it as a regular dashboard page.  But I have not tried putting more than 10 programs in one bubble yet so I am not sure about that.  If they expand to hold several 'pages' within one folder bubble, then that is pretty cool.

I think the Vita could benefit from more dashboard updates in the future, but for now this is a very nice update since I don't have to scroll through several pages to locate this or that game.
