I have been wanting to change my avatar since the 15th (first time I signed up with the Playstation Network too). Apparently you can ONLY change your PS Network avatar via a PS3 and I do not own one. What kind of backward crap is that? If I missed it then pardon my stupidity but when I log in to my account via the website it specifically says that we can only change via the PS3. LAME.
To change your avatar on the Vita just go into Settings/PlayStation Network/Account Information then tap on your current avatar. This gets you into the av selection.
