My main issue with the PSP wasn't that it had one stick but that it had terrible placement. If the thumbstick is your primary input for movement then it should have primary position, not near the bottom of the device. Does it seem to anyone else like Sony would rather give you thumb cramps than copy the Gamecube/360 layout?

I can't describe how much i hate x360 tumbstick placement. And no i am no fanboy. I agree that x360 controllers are more confortable, but button placement is a nightmare for my taste.

Looks fine to me. My problem with the PSP's stick was that it was placed so low. These are closer to the center.

I disagree. I've always found the bottom placement of the thumbsticks to make more sense and feel more comfortable than a thumbstick on top. Although, I suppose I'm probably biased since the first console I had was the PS2.

I got too used to PS controllers. I simply can't stand playing on my Xbox for more than an hour due to the controller, and I can't understand why people keep praising it.

360 style placement would be a plus for me, albeit a small one. I'm more concerned with how sturdy and fluid they feel than anything. Sony's placement isn't ideal for me, but it's not bad by any stretch.

I thought the placement was weird at first on the PSP but I got used to it after a while and I like it now. I will say though that on games that can use either the d-pad or the stick, I almost always use the d-pad though but there are not a lot of systems where that's not true.

looks fine to me. but without actually trying it out I cant say for sure if it will work. I have a ps1, ps2, xbox, xbox360, and a psp and all of them seem to fit my hand fine, so I'm thinking the vita will work fine too. You just have to adjust the way you hold the controller/portable and it works out.

I have not held the PSvita in order to know if the placement is good. But the thumbsticks hopefully will be comfortable to use. The placement of analog sticks has been an issue before. The DualShock 1,2,3 placement. VS the XBOX/XBOX 360 placement. So I should be fine with the PSvita's placement of 2 analog thunbsticks. Unless it is awkward with the dual touch screens. Traditional multi-touch screen capacitve on the front. like ipad 2 and another panel on the back.

At least Sony finally listened to have 2 analog sticks this time. Hopefully there are decent quality. The analog nub from the PSP was not the greatest.

I can usually get used to stick/button placement on any handheld or controller. The only question I have is will the sticks actually be comfortable? I know the original PSP's thmubstick was incredibly uncomfortable after awhile.

There has been nothing but praise for the sticks, if you look at the videos its doesn't look lke people have to strain to get their thumbs there.

Frankly, I've gotten used to Sony's controller layouts. Maybe it's a proven fact that having the analogue on top is more comfortable(I think it is), but it just feels weird to me. Call me a fanboy, but I'm used to it.

That's not a fact, that's an opinion. ;) IMO, people seem to like what controller they used first. If they played the Xbox first, they like the higher analog placement. If they played the PlayStation first, they like the lower analog placement.

Yes, psv analog placement is horrible. I feel like my thumb will have to be at a 90 degree angle 100% of the time. Analog should have been up top, imo.

I know it's an opinion, you misunderstood me. I said I think it's more comfortable, and it might even be a proven fact(I didn't say it actually was), but despite this, I still prefer Sony's controller layouts. And I actually used Xbox before just about any console, I thought Playstation's controllers were strange, then when I started using them, I started to like them. It would be nice if both companies just offered two or more types of controllers to cater to all parties, but I suppose that they each think that their controller layout is better, and it's expensive to make variations on an entire portable console. Sort of on topic, I'm a little ticked off that Sony isn't implementing Dualshock 3 support in the Vita at the moment. It was supported on the PSPGo, and the Vita has Bluetooth. Maybe they're trying to emphasize the cross-platform multiplayer, but regardless, that's no excuse to exclude vital features that some PSPs already have.

That really was unnecessary, and discussing other consoles is against the rules. You could have simply said that PS3 controllers are the best, and stopped there. :P I don't the thumb slipping will be a problem with the Vita, the analogue sticks are round instead of flat, and they actually tilt instead of slide.

I don't get thumb cramps, I prefer their layout to the 360/Gamecube.

Not that it matters anyway, considering I always use the D-pad :|

D-pad up, thumbstick down. I really familiar with this setup. It's better I guess
