Can someone please explain to me why a new consumer who wants to buy a PSP should get the PSP 2000 instead of the PSP 3000?

The only argument I have found against the purchase is 30 minutes less life. If there are more please enlighten me.

So far the benefits (in my eyes) out way the negatives.

Benefits include: more vibrant, mic, glare reduction, hookup to any TV (cable sold seperately). Supposedly I heard shorter load times but it was negligible.

Just get the 3000 for goodness sakes. If you are worried about the 30 min. less battery life then use a charger or get a spare battery.

if your really want a new psp go for 3000, it may have 30 min less battery life but you can always lower the screen brightness

but if your 1000 still works fine and you don't necessarily want a new one i say just keep it and buy some games instead, not much diff in them anyway

the only reason you shouldnt buy the 3000 is if you already have a 2000 and/or 1000 imo

I actually have a PSP 2000 but I keep reading on different PSP forums of people convincing others to get the PSP 2000 instead of the 3000. I would agree if you already had a PSP and don't want to rebuy it but for a new customer I don't see the benefits.

Anyone know of any benfits? that are legal (which excludes homebrew, CF and emulation software which could possibly brick your psp anyway.)

I don't understand why someone that already has a PSP would go put out another $200 for the 3000. I still like that Sony made the 3000 because it's not like they raised the price on it. But sure it's a little inconvenient to wear a mic on your head and sometimes it is a litttle hard to see outside but not $200 worth of inconvenience.

I just got a used PSP-2000 not too long ago, and would prefer not to get a new one since I definitely can't afford another one right now, among other reasons. However, the PSP-3000's screen is said to get rid of the ghosting/response time issues that drive my crazy with my current PSP (especially with red/brown colors). I'm really considering an upgrade for that reason alone. (The integrated mic isn't much of a motivator since I already have a headset.) The most ideal solution would be to take the PSP-3000's screen and retrofit it into the PSP-2000, but Sony has probably made some motherboard changes so as to make the new screens incompatible with older motherboards for all I know. I'll just have to wait and see.

I never really could justify buying a PSP 2000 over my 1000. But a better screen with a much improved color gamut, screen response time cut by half. Thats worth the purchase.

Why are you voting on PSP3000 if the realese is in a couple of months, we don´t know much about the 3000 only the previews. This is an useless Poll and Topic, it is like saying,What bread is more flavorful, the one than you are eating, or the one that as soon I am going to cook; We don't Know :question:

Greetings

You're right NamelessPlayer it would be nice if sony would sell the screen by itself to put it on your psp slim, sounds like a good option for people who don't want to buy another psp but want to get rid of the glare

Question: On a HD TV set, will the PSP 3000 have a better picture quality than my PSP 2000. In the Sony interview, it was said that both use the same cable. Since the 3000 is to have better framerate, etc will these upgrades transfer to playing games on your HD TV screen?

Thanks in advance for any information on this.
