it all depends on how long u can wait, the next gen consoles wont be coming for at least 1-2 years. if u need your gaming fix now, you should buy a PC, and if cost isnt a problem then buying a good PC will probably keep you till at least half way through next generation. Also you might want to consider loosing out on PS3 and Xbox exclusives, you will only pretty much get multi platform games. its all up to you.

If the cost won't be a problem, go with the PC. You'll get a major difference in graphics now, and who knows what next gen consoles will be capable of, or when they'll be released.

If you can only get one, I say go with pc for sure because every gamer needs a good pc, I can play bf3 maxed out on my pc and it looks amazing to say the least and plays smooth as butter, I got it for ps3 also and I just can't play it on there knowing how it is on my pc.

Wrong forum, should have posted this on system wars. I was wrestling with this decision myself, but decided to keep playing on PS3 while holding out for next gen - rather than rush into a new PC. Of course I *WOULD* have gone the PC route almost out of necessity of having to replace my old laptop, but someone surprised me with a laptop for the holidays, so with a new laptop it's hard to justify spending any additional money on gaming setup. I've been interested in a HTPC for awhile, but at this point I will hold to see what next gen consoles are like. The worst case is by holding, even if I end up building a PC I will have waited for another generation of cooler/more efficient processors/GPU's to make my HTPC much more console-like in terms of size and ability to fit in my living room.

Lol, a top notch P.C. will always rape any gaming console, no point even comparing the two, I'm happy with PS3 and couldn't care less if a PS4 came out in 2016.

I am talking about the quality and quantity of the video games over pc games. We all know that pc games will always look better but the videogames have a far better selection of games. I prefer fighting games like MK and Tekken, action games like uncharted and gow, racing games, etc. and those games tend to not be available for the pc. FPS and role playing games which i have no interest in are better fit for PC with keyboard and mouse but I think other genres are better on a video game system. And I would rather lay comfortably on my couch with a playstation 3 controller and play on a 46" lcd rather than sit at a computer desk with a small screen. When I used to play pc games, it was all about shooting games for me so that is why I prefer video games.

ROFL, what is this "I prefer video games instead of pc games" nonsense, do you have any idea what you are talking about? You can hook as big a tv as you can find up to a pc and you can have 6 displays to be driven from a single GPU for insane screen resolutions, can you do that on a console? ps. you can use any controller on a pc

not only that but games are cheaper on the PC, you can upgrade a pc and keep it with the times saving you money buying a console every time they decide its became obsolete, the experience is far better, its customisable and once you get past the big first payment for all the bits its easier to save money. Plus you get things like steam etc

Everybody knows that you can hook up a pc to a TV but I don't want an additional desktop next to a 46" lcd in living room. And can the pc play games like uncharted, god of war, all the fighting games, etc? NO NO NO. Can I use a ps3 controller for PC? I am not one of those warcraft people. As I said before, it is about quality and quantity of the games.... Not just "PC is more powerful so it is better?!" If I was one of those RPGers or heavily into FPS, then it may be different.

Yes! You can use a PS3 controller on a PC which is pretty cool but I would rather play my game on my PS3 for all that. I own a gaming PC for exclusives like Diablo and MMOs like The Old Republic. I prefer most games on my PS3. With games like Skyrim where you have tons of mods on the PC version, its best to have it on PC. If I were the OP I would go ahead and buy the PC because the next Gen consoles aren't coming for a while. If they were coming this year it would be a different story.

I'd wait for anymore stories or information about the next-gen consoles. If they don't interest you, buy a PC.

I can carry my laptop with my wherever I want. I can also hook it up to any 46" TV I please and play games with better graphics than my PS3. Also with a PC you can use a PS3 controller, as well as an Xbox controller, Logitech controller, etc. And as far as quality goes, PCs have consoles beat in many ways. PC has the stronger indie titles, better racing sims, strategy games, and more. I hate to start a debate that belongs in SW, but with the PS3 being as old as it is, it doesn't really hold much against PCs besides its price.

Next-gen console graphics will definitely look far better than the graphics today.
