http://kotaku.com/5066218/islamic-group-weighs-in-on-lbp-recall

Are the Muslims saying that the game didn't have to be delayed just because of some Islamic rules? That others shouldn't be denied their freedoms just because of one cultural view. Plz tell me that read this wrong and that sony didn't just recall the game for nothing!

The game wasn't recalled to appease the vast majority of Muslims who probably wouldn't have had any problem with the song... it was recalled to appease the very small minority who would have complained...

I'm just going to past what I wrote in another thread:

I'm Muslim and don't think there was a need to remove that song and push the release of the game, a lot of singers use words from the Quran in their songs, I bet the person who complained is someone who just said it is a western product how can they have those word in it, if it was made by an Arab company he wouldn't have complained.

Anything more than a patch is BS cowtowing. A patch would have sufficed just fine. 6 days of my life have been devalued thanks to it.

Not to mention the rednecks, republicans and other ignorant Fox news watchers who will instantly hate the game and Sony the second a fake email claiming the verse is terrorist gets out.

you have to put yourself in sony's shoes and realize what they are trying to do they want sackboy to become the face of playstation and they want little big planet to be remembered for its gameplay not because of some religious incident this was the best thing to do even though I have to wait another week for LBP

Agreed. No reason to have the minority hate Americans some more (they'd find a way to pin it on us :().

It takes thousands of people to make a game a "Greatest Hits", but only a few to start a law suit and evaporate any of the money made...

Sony did the right thing...I just hope they find out who did it and fire him/her. It was obviously not an accident and it required someone who knew the language to do some of it (i.e., to say the words in the song).

I'm glad that they went ahead and took it out, because you never know what insane radical Muslem will hear it and then decide to fly a plane into another building when they hear it.rockwii13

I don't think it should have been changed at all, nothing against the Muslim religion but its part of their culture to not be able to sing passages from the Gur'an to not ours. Doing this is sort of like forcing their religion on the rest of the world, nobody wants to have someones religious views forced on them. I could care less about a mere 1 week delay or the fact that song was removed, but I still don't it was right. They should have released an optional patch for those who don't want to hear the song in the game. Not force those views on everyone.

There's no winning here for Sony. If they take it out, they get bashed for giving in to extremism, if they leave it in they get bashed by extremists.

Church in RFOM

Bad guys in GRAW2 are Mexican

Black people in RE5

Muslim line in a LBP song

I know I'm forgetting others. But it's always the same old crap. These kind of people's heads explode when you say "Merry Christmas" to them in North America. Walk past your window and call the cops because they saw your Christmas tree or a Santa prop on your roof. Sure, racism sucks. But so does "political correctness".

I get that Sony did it as a precaution in order to not offend anyone and cause an uproar, but honestly, at what point does the insanity end? I understand people have rights, but don't people have rights to freedom of speech? Since when does it cause an uproar if a game has some passages to the Bible in a song? If we get to the point that we are afraid of anything we say about a group, it causes a state of fear that is extremely unhealthy to a land of freedom. We need to protect the right to say what we want and not fear reprisal. In my opinion, this kind of breeding of fear in what we can say is a form of terrorism in unto itself.
