Okay, I'm planning on getting a PS3 soon but I have a few questions first:

1. How much longer do you think the PS3 will be around? Think it will have a similar run like the PS2?

2. What is the reliability rate for the system? I know Xbox's break like there is no tomorrow, but I hear the PS3 is a tank...very reliable. True?

3. Is there a way to backup your saved games? (like an external way to save them on a memory card) because if hypothetically I had to get Sony to replace my PS3 because something went wrong I'd lose all my saved games.

Thanks.

1. i think it will be around for alot longer, sony said countless times they want a 10 year life cycle for all their systems so if thats true you have 8 years left.

2. They are very reliable, with any electronic though you have to take care of it. the 360's break from overheating so my friend keeps his in his basement and it is always freezing down there and he has been able to play for 18 hours straight with it no problems. Keep your ps3 well ventilated and in a cool area and you should be fine

3. if you have an external harddrive you can back up everything, it takes about a hour and a half to do so and about 30 gigs.

Impossible to say, Sony says 10 years, who knows? After the PS2 and the fact that the PS3 has firmware updates (my PS3 does alot more today then when i bought her April 26 2007) i think is "doable"

2. What is the reliability rate for the system? I know Xbox's break like there is no tomorrow, but I hear the PS3 is a tank...very reliable. True?

Yes, its like 38% against 0,7% something like that, the thing is a tank. Don't worry if you ear the PS3 runs pretty hot, that's normal, you don't get that on the 360 cuz the thing has faulty cooling system, in a room 30º Celsius, the interior of a 360 can go up to 100, yatsy :S

The trophies you get are stored online, you never lose them as long as you sinc with the server often, as for saves just use any USB pen.

I will agree with everyone else, but I'm still unsure if the PS3 is going to have a similar "run" like the PS2 simply because the market today has 2 other stronger competitors unlike last generation. Those same Playstation fans who had a PS2 are seperated on two consoles today(and so are the games sadly).

Yes and No.You can only play in game music with certain games.Burnout paradise and Warhawk are just two of them.It is not a huge number of games that allow this feature.

1. About the same as the PS2, maybe even longer.

2. I don't know the exact %, but I know it is pretty low. I would say something like 3%-8%.

3. External HDD will do what you need.

1: Don't know but hopefully Awhile 2: It's very reliable. There is a pretty small percentage of the ps3 breaking. Some people break it themselves. 3: Yes get a USB HDD or an external drive. Just hook it right up to one of your USB ports. You welcome
