it was an odd sign up if you ask me. I didn't really know what my router type was so I said I didn't use one, didn't know what model my firewall was either, but I figured that out. Why would they need to know if I use a firewall or not anyways?

Maybe because some firewalls prevent some online applications from running.Maybe it would block Warhawk from running, but i doubt thats the reason because it could easily be turned off.Â

Compatibility issues.
I suppose they have a few FAQs put together for different routers and FW's and they only have a few "Tested and Supported" so far, so they want to know if their testers will be using the same sort of router/FW that they themselves are using.
Pretty much, a router is a terminal for your Broadband, basically, if you got broadband, you got a router.
Its the thing that connects to the walls (and if a wired router) then its the dooberlacky that you plug your CAT5Â (blue) cable into.
Pretty much, if you got a Linksys or a D-Link your set, as they are pretty much the top 2 router companies. FW doesn't really matter, if you use one you probably know your using it (Norton, etc).Â
