well, so far I hardly care, I rent movies on Blu-Ray but if I get to buy any, it's on dvd, they're way much cheaper hehe...

Another win for the PS3 and Sony, cant be stopped in 08
That is a cold thing to do with your consumers Warner, I wish they wern't turning into Paramount (which turned HD DVD exclusive last year in august), atleast I have both players to use. :)rctyke
You're also loaded! Give me some of that cash!:P
And Netflix is going to kick them both in the nuts. RIP Blu-Ray and HD-DVD :( We need to start forgetting about the whole concept of "owning" movies.

It's not like nobody is doing streaming video right now... Just because Netflix join things won't suddenly change for the better.

nah...i prefer having a hardcopy
Same. Not to mention the service won't even be HD. It will be dvd quality. I'd rather just keep getting the movies in the mail.

Damn right, HD-DVD is done. 8 Exclusive studios (Bluray) vs. 2 exclusive studies (HD-DVD), yep they lost. I have both players but I'll likely stop buying HD-DVDs now. The format is officialy on it's way out. Truth be told, I thought Bluray would lose, but I guess having every PS3 equiped with Bluray was a trojan horse.

Yeah good thing you have both cause HD DVD will be dead by years end now. Universal and Paramount will soon anounce Blu-Ray support
I want more games not more f ing moviesEmpCom
ya...who the hell cares bout movies when the ps3 is lacking games.....
heheh youre under the mistaken assumption that anyone is actually gonna buy that box ;).... disc less media is 5-10 years away, bandwidth is still too slow to allow for downloadable or streaming HD videoAnd Netflix is going to kick them both in the nuts. I feel honestly sorry for HD DVD owners out there who want the movies that also blu ray owners are getting, the only company that supports bothnow is New line (which most of there HD DVD movies are released later then there blu ray counterparts, exception is Pan's Labyrinth, which is released on both the same day). The thing I liked about Warner is that they give everyone what they want, although I'll point out that some of theircatalog movies are only availible on HD DVD, I think warner will lose some of there credibility for this, but if the war must end quick, you might as well just go Blu ray exclusive.rctyke
See, this is what I don't understand. There is no HDDVD gaming system out there. Why would anyone want to buy HDDVD and miss out on so much?:?
awesome...we just need Universal now...i want Back to the Future Trilogy and Scarface on BLU!I_AM_GAMERDoesn't Universal have some type of stake in HD DVD? Either way, this is cool I guess, I have both players now and I'll be getting Samsung's Dual Format player by years end.

Why would anyone want to buy HDDVD and miss out on so much?SymphonycomethBecause to people who watch movies the fact that there isn't an HD DVD based console has nothing to do with it. It's the only reason that I have both players, until there are no exclusive movies I will continue to support both formats. Sony used the PS3 as a trojan horse. I think that they would be willing to take the loss if BD becomes the standard for HD Movies.
That mean I can see Batman Begins on Bluray and the upcoming Dark Knight as well?aka_aj03yup! you can bet the moment Batman Begins comes out on Blu-ray im buying it!

Warner owns the right of Batman movies... so hell yes!!! not only those 2 but the future ones as well.
Can we safely say that the format war is drawing to a close now?dewmandew7
I think we can. And thank God for that! :P
