Hey, I am looking to buy a playstation 3, but everywhere I got I can only find the 40 gb version and not the 80, except for the Metal Gear solid pack online. Did sony discontinue it, or is it just hard to find?
yes the 20, 60, & 80 gig versions were all discontinued unfortunately. however, if you want to play PS2 games and are worried the 40 gig won't play them, there is a rumor that an update in the near future will allow the 40 gig to play PS2 games. if you can find the 80 gig MGS bundle online, go for it. definitely worth it :D

Yup, discontinued. You're better off with the MGS4 Bundle especially if you're an MGS fan. Even if the 80GB version was out today, it would cost as much as the MGS4 bundle. You basically get MGS4 and DualShock 3 controller, free. Your search is over. :)
Amazon.com has already started pre-orders for MGS4 bundle and Circuit.com will have it tomorrow by 10 a.m. Pull out that wallet!
well, once the metal gear solid 4 bundle sells out, are you guys saying the only new way to get a ps3 is for the 40 gb version that doesn't even play ps2 games? You guys mentioned the 120-160 gb versions maybe, but are those confirmed, or just rumors? it seems a little weird to me that the 40 gb version is the only one left.

thats why the rumour of the 40GB BC firmware update seems very plausable

the 80GBs have always been packaged with a game. Once the MGS bundles are stopped, they will probably just find another game to package with the 80GBs and bring them out again.
