As long as it's in good condition, I guess so... And if you don't have a PS2, it might be worth it if you plan on playing PS2 games. I have heard some of the older models tend to YLOD, but maybe that's not true, I don't know.

YLOD = Yellow Light of Death. Its like the RROD if you have an Xbox? If you get YLOD you wont be able to use your PS3 because it wont turn on as its dead. So you bought a PS3 that died and someone fixed the problem, but the fix my only be temporary. IMO, it wasnt a good deal, You should always buy consoles new as you don't know for sure the condition it was in before. I hope you have a warranty in case it breaks :(.

Yellow Light of Death, it's when the PS3 overheats and malfunctions, or when the hard drive crashes... similar to the Red Ring of Death on 360. It's more of a problem with 60 GB models I think, but I'm not exactly sure about 80 GB models. Mine still works fine, but it doesn't have BC.

IMO that was a good buy provided that has model backward compatibility. To a large extent,YLOD will be taken care of if you take care of heat dissipation by measures like not keeping console on carpet, keeping the console in a well ventilated place and keeping it covered when not in use.

I would've went with a new system if it were me. To me backwards compatibility is a waste of money, there are hardly any games on PS2 that I need to play these days and if there are they will likely re-release them on PS3 (or already have).

+1

Considering brand new slim 160GB PS3 with black ops is $300, this $240 for an used fat 80GB PS3 is pretty bad.
