Both games have to deal with the new tales of the Crystals. The games don't take place in the same worlds. Final Fantasy XIII is going to be your traditional Final Fantasy game. Versus's concept is actually different from what Square Enix has created before(or at least what Nomura has created). Versus is still a Final Fantasy game, but has a slight twist of reality. I've read interviews that has Noruma discussing his dark vision, and how he's trying to incorporate some of todays issues into the game. Final Fantasy Versus XIII is a action-RPG based off of realism but also fantasy you come to love in the series. The characters are suppose to display human emotions that hasn't been seen Nomura claims. I've heard a lot of comparison to our own world and the world of Versus. I am definitely looking forward to it.

I thought Versus would be another attempt to an FF Fighting game like Ehrgiez (however it's spelt)

The fighting game they're deciding to do is called Dissidia..or it's some form of fighting game.

The difference is ones 1.3% complete and ones 13% complete :/
