We need RPGs

Even these days when exclusive games are rare, XBOX 360 is getting 3 RPGs which won't be on PS3 and 2 of them seem to be good (One of them from Square enix, don't remember the name, but this generation (or rather the PS3) lacks of RPGs. I really want to see a really good RPG on this generation but it seems i will have to wait for FF XIII.

For now i will be playing Persona 3 of PS2 and Persona 4 when it comes out.

Yeah, I have to agree that there is kind of a lack of RPG's coming out for the PS3 this year...good thing I also have a 360.

Tales of Vesperia, well Tales games were always good, not great IMO, and Infinite Discovery looks forgetable and so far the reviews met my expectations on the game.

Point blank, yes the 360 is getting a lot RPGs, but none so far are yet to be bragged about, each of them fall short.

Whats with the PTRers and their grim reaper thing now. It used to be Solid Snake they all used. lol

They have to get piad for this. Thats the only logical "sane" reason. If we ever break it open, its gonna be great.

- Rise Of The Argonauts

- Sacred 2: Fallen Angel

- The Last Remnant

- White Knight Story

Disgaea 3 is out now, it's a Srpg. Eternal Sonata is supposdly coming out this fall with extras, it's a turn-based rpg.Valkyria Chronicles is a Action-rpg coming out this November. Then there's Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 and Ar Tonelico II coming out for the Ps2 this December (both of those Ps2 games should not be missed!)

I feel sorry for you guys who don't have a 360 because Tales of Vesperia is freaking sweet! And you know if ever played Tales of the Abyss for the Ps2. Can't say for Inifinite Undiscovery because I have not purchased it yet however it's by Tri-Ace and Valkyrie Profile 2 for the Ps2 was one of the most rewarding and exciting feeling playing through the battle system so I'm sure IU won't disappoint. Even though there not all that similar just that is how close of a comparison I can make.

however many people do, like m, PS3 is quite a let down regarding RPGs, especially since the PS1 and PS2 were both dominant in RPGs in each generation, and even now the PSP is gettin' quite alot of high profile RPGs.

however many people do, like m, PS3 is quite a let down regarding RPGs, especially since the PS1 and PS2 were both dominant in RPGs in each generation, and even now the PSP is gettin' quite alot of high profile RPGs.

i am glad they arent full of RPGs. my second least favorite genre. first one bieng sports.

There are three games I (will) miss after trading in my 360: Lost Odyssey, Fable 2, and Eternal Sonata. Fable 2 will hopefully come to PC eventually and Eternal Sonata is coming to the PS3 in October, but I REALLY miss Lost Odyssey, as the PS3 should be loaded with JRPGs of that ilk but is disturbingly barren. I'm very disappointed with the lack of JRPG support on the PS3, but I don't regret my decision to ditch my other system :)

So, I'm curious why people that don't like RPGs are even posting in this thread about their dislike of RPGs. That's kind of asinine...

Well, it's true there are a few coming but since Oblivion i haven't played another one, that's why i'm playing Persona 3 now because i was playing Mercenaries 2 and got to 78% in a blink, i got bored of finishing games on 10 hours of gameplay.

Well, it's just matter of likes, i'm not a huge fan but i've always loved Final Fantasy and a few others.

What i love of them is the gameplay time wich is usually over 60 hours, also most of them have a great and strong storyline.

I've only played one MMORPG, it's called "Last Chaos" it's a free one, i was "testing" and ended up playing it for a year and being on top10 on the Knight class, if RPG are adictive MMO ones are 5x more adictive, but i don't feel like playing one again, with an RPG you can say "Well i can play tomorrow" but with a MMORPG people might be waiting for you and even more when you are guild master, advisor (I was :P) or something like that, they really consume our time >.< but it's so fun.

Maybe a Lunar 3 ??? Or Xenogear 2 ? hmmm

only close thing to be great is Tales of Vesperia, and its a tales game. tales games are always good and fun, but they are not great.

other than that, all others are not worthy... but its just because they appear on 360... i mean they are giving rpgs to fps fans... so they are appreciated...

noone even talks about these games much, they are forgotten next week... and someone said infinite undiscovery will be good ? check the reviews of websites... its another flop...

though, i agree that we need rpgs... i just wrote a blog about this yesterday... though its just a rant

Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon were quite average. Eternal Sonata was ok but the combat got kind of boring. Tales of Vesperia actually seems cool, but yes those games aren't super amazing. Infinite Undiscovery just seems annoying after reading and watching some of the reviews. True you can't always trust reviewers, but they seem to have proven their point, What is even more annoying is that I bought a 360 just for RPG's and they have all been rather boring. I would rather wait for something great than play average RPG's just for the sake of having some. I am starting to notice that a lot with 360. It has a good amount more of games, but none of them stand out really. I am not saying all the PS3 games are top notch either but the 360 is overrated.

Anyway we have Disgaea 3, Valkyria Chronicles, White Knight Story, Cross Edgem and I am pretty sure we will see Wild Arms at some point.
