Weird sound when PS3 switches from main screen to game

I just got a PS3 a few days ago and Im having these weird and somewhat scary (scary if its harming my tv) noises as the PS3 changes the resolution of the TV from the main screen to the game, sometimes the screen blinks but then sometimes it blinks all weird and then gets these very loud beeps and bang noises at the resolution change.

Is this normal, and if so, can this be hurting my tv??? I dont think it should but well I dont want to risk it.

I hear a loud cracking sound from my TV when I launch a game or a DVD/Blu-Ray. I just MUTE my TV and hook up my PC Speakers when I don't want to hear it.

there's sound when resolution is changing, but it shouldn't be "loud" ...
