I just got my power bill, 270 bloody quid just because I've been running f@h, I really love the idea of contributing but unless someone can tell me how to make it cost less I'm going to have to retire, and I was so close to 800 units.

Yea its probably a bit expensive if you're just going to leave it running non-stop. I find I use it when I leave my PS3 on overnight if I'm downloading something. I have a slow internet connection, so a demo can be downloaded overnight during which time I run F@H. Obviously you don't get as many work units done, but at least you're using the power of your PS3 when it would be turned on anyway. Congrats to you for being dedicated to the project for that long though, 800 work units is pretty damn high.

Where the hell do you live for the electricity to cost that much? Even my fridge doesn't cost me half of that!

Is a 'Quid' like a U.S. 'Buck'?

My monthly biil here in the States runs around $240. I use the PS3 for hours daily and have at least 1 pc running 24/7.

It seems you have done your part though sir, maybe you can give the ole' ps3 a rest for a bit.

I doubt its because your PS3. PS3 is estimated to use 200watts while folding. Every 5 hours would be a Kwh. Which for me rate multiplier .084 x 144Kwh/month = $12.09/mo for 24x7 use of my PS3. Thats for a 30 day month.

Damn that's a high bill. I usually have F@H running when I excercise or when I go out for a bit. Probably 2 hourr/daily at most. It may not be much, but I'm doing my part. It's not a competition.

Just don't f@h.

It goes from your pocket straight to someone else's. Don't believe that Standford Uni does all that research just to help humanity, it's all about profit. And they probably got more money than the average PS3 player, so I don't see why I should give my money to them.
