Well don't I feel ripped off

As someone who just bought a PS3 a few weeks ago for $400 I feel pretty ripped off right about now as the PS3's current model gets $100 cheaper tomorrow and the Slim is now official with a bigger hard drive and a cheaper price.

Yer I'd imagine this happened to a lot of people, worst bit is the fact sony said there was no price cut planned this year, oh well I got my PS3 at the start of last year.

The rumors have been going around for over 3 months now. It is your fault for not waiting atleast until the holidays. Prices drop all the time its called business.

Well I don't feel ripped off when I bought mine in 2006 for $500. The best part about my PS3 is it still runs PS2 and PS1 games on their own engine.

As for the TC I can sympathise, it is ballocks when that happens, I bet you feel chumped. I bought mine back in February so i've had mine a while longer and I love it and I'd say I've got £60/70 worth of time out of it since then compared to the shat I'd have been forced to play on the 360.

I payed €350 for PS3 80GB with Killzone 2 about a month ago while I have always said to myself I will only buy a PS3 when GT5 comes out. I couldn't hold it anymore but still, it's not that bad. I sold Killzone 2 for €30 so in theory I payed €320 for my PS3. And as of now with the price drop, a new PS3 is only €300, so no biggie here.

Things get cheaper over time. That's the way it works. Maybe you should have done a little research before buying, hmm?

2-3 weeks ago the rumors were all over the place. Sure, not all rumors turn out to be true, but with the rumors being hot at the time and a big gaming show mere weeks away, you should have thought to wait for the show.

Price reductions are a normal thing. They happen, and they can happen at any time. Between the rumors and the big gaming show that was upcoming, you should have waited a few weeks to see what would happen.

Anyway, it happened. Be happy you have a PS3, and go enjoy it.

Consoles always drop their prices as they get older. The usual trend is a yearly price drop. Rumours of a price drop have been circling the net for about a month now. Maybe longer.

If you are so worried about price drops, buy your console at the end of the lifespan. Problem solved.

if its only been 2 or 3 weeks you should be able to take it back. THen wait for the price drop on the 80 gigs or grab a 120 gig slim.

I paid almost $600 for mine when it first came out here in Canada. Cry me a muther Phucking River !

Well thats business, I nearly did the same but I was smart enough to do some research and waited for today (gamescon) so I could make the best decision. At least next time you will have learnt your lesson.

I've been waiting for it up to now and come September i'll be buying one.

If you kept the receipt, just go to the store and tell them you just bought it and the price dropped $100. When the 60gb dropped to $500, I got a $100 refund because it had only been a month. It wasn't even an issue, they generally will give you the difference if a major electronic drops in price suddenly and it's been a month or less since you bought it (iPhone anyone?).

If you bought online or off eBay or something, good luck.

i bought my ps3 80 gb+little big planet for 399€ one month ago (maybe a little more) but gamestop will give me a bonus of 200€ to spend in the shop so it's like I payed 199€ for my ps3 fat plus the game. Ummmm don't ask me why, i don't feel ripped off....I would say a sort of.......screwed in the butt? Like I am a really unlucky fella. Anyway, i just like the 120gb feature.

Nah man. Don't worry about it hang on to yours... the slim ones aren't able to have alternate OS's installed on them. That means you have the option of playing NES and SNES games (only emulators available at this time) on your PS3. Slim owners can't do that! ;)

I feel for ya but it's not worth complaining about. I idioticly paid $499 for an elite and not only did the price drop it turned into a refurb 5 months later and the resale price is pretty much through the floor, now that's being ripped off!

Probibly wouldn't hurt to read through the linked page to see if you can accually recoup the $100, if you do make sure to run a backup and format the drive in the PS3 you have now before returning it.
