Why is everybody so scared and/or angry because of this article? Copyright? Do you know what copyright is? Recreating a level in Little Big Planet based on a movie or whatever, doesn't infring copyright terms. Don't believe me? Believe the government?
Copyright, a form of intellectual property law, protects original works of authorship including literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works, such as poetry, novels, movies, songs, computer software, and architecture. Copyright does not protect facts, ideas, systems, or methods of operation, although it may protect the way these things are expressed.
Copyright does not protect ideas, concepts, systems, or methods of doing something. You may express your ideas in writing or drawings and claim copyright in your description, but be aware that copyright will not protect the idea itself as revealed in your written or artistic work.
So, as long as you don't use screenshots from a movie, or the soundtrack, or movie parts, you can do whatever you want. The idea isn't protected. You probably won't re-create the story (because you can't), but a level that is based on something.
Even if I'm wrong, because I forgot something (derivative work anyone? but I'm pretty sure that recreating something in LBP isn't part of this), it is pretty far from likely that a company will ask the guys behind LBP to stop their players from designing fan art. The movie industry p*ssed off so many people, they can't afford to go on with this. It's not like you are stoping them from making money if you create a level based on a movie...actually, you are reminding other people of their movie and maybe somebody will go and buy it. Dunno...
