Well this may be the final nail in the coffin for Sony this generation. I mean it happens, what did you sony fanboys think or for that matter anybody actually think that Sony would never lose its first place spot?!!? It happens Sony came along and beat Nintendo, and was first place for 2 generations, but now Nintendo, and Microsoft have struck them down and they no longer reign supreme. Its not a suprise at all, its what happens. Mabye next generation they might get back on top again . Or Nintendo will be winning again, or Microsoft who knows. Bottom Line no company will ever stay on top. Sony is just doing poorly this gen, Sorry.

The company as a whole still turned a profit so in no way shape or form is sony done. You wanna know why they even lost money? Because they are moving units. Use your damn brain. I challenge you to research MS's game division financials. It's still really early in this generation's life cycle; much too early to start crowning the kings. Oh, well, I should say "the PS3's life cycle." At the rate MS is going, the 360 will be maxed out ina year or so, and it'll be time for XBOX3 right as the PS3 is hitting its prime. Also, I feel 360 sales are a little misleading, considering how many lemmings inexplicably repurchase the dang thing once the ring hits.

They've lost a big ammount of money yes, but Sony got almost an endless amount of it so it's not really a big problem for the company as a whole. It isn't though exactly good news for the gaming department, but a nail in the coffin? No I don't think so.

Besides, things can pick up over the years.

Yeah, I encourage you to examine the stickied'Broken XBOX360' thread on the boards here. Take special note of how many people are actually satisfied with their 'free replacement,' and how many basically say 'F this, I'm buying an Elite/Halo3 SE and selling my replacement because I'm tired of getting a different broken console sent back to me after 2 months of waiting.'

Sony are a big company - they can dip their fingers into many differentbusiness ventures if they need to get more game division funding. And sure, they may be experiencing losses now, but that's to be expected at not only the start of a generation, but also in light of a recent price cut and a poor September. I can guarantee things will pick up and Sony will make a sizable profit by gens end.

Well the PS2 won by almost 100 million consoles. The PS1 sold over 100 million consoles. The N64 sold around 35 million. The Gamecube and Xbox sold 50 million combined. It would be logical to think that Sony would stay on top.InsaneHanz

As long as Sony is the biggest and best electronics company there is and probably will ever be, they can do whatever they want. Ps3 is the superior system, with revolutionary technology, they can do whatever they want, look at the lineup of games for 08, look at the hardware and software updates, 2.0 and Home. Look at the spiked sales since the price drops and the release of the 80 gig, theres no way Sony is going anywhere
