a dead pixel is like looking at a puzzle with a piece missing (if that made any sense)

Apparantly there are certain videos or something you can run to try and get rid of stuck pixels. It might be dead, or it might be stuck. You should search around for said video and try that. If it works, it was just stuck, if not, than it is dead, and nothing can be done about that, sorry.

The video can only fix stuck pixels not dead ones. Stuck pixel are usually bright colours and not black. Get the video at www.psp-vault.com/Article168.psp (this site isnt working for me atm.) or http://www.psp-hacks.com/?p=145 (sorry about this being a hack site but its the only other place i could find it)

Just be warned i have heard that this video could create more stuck pixels but im not sure if thats true.

An LCD (Liquid crystal Display) is made up of tiny squares called Pixels.  Sometimes one of those sqaurs is dead, burned out, or even stuck with a bright color (that can be annoying to).  When you have a screen with thousands upon thousands of the little pixel squares, chances are some will be bad.  That is why it is hard these days to find a PERFECT LCD screen in many electronic devices.  If you ever find a perfect LCD, you are in luck.
you may check with the manufactuer (in this case sony) to see their policy on dead pixels.  Some companies have a strict dead pixel policy, while others swap out units for free, no questions asked.  When I worked for Sony many many years ago, their policy on dead pixels for laptops was 4 or more before it could be replaced free of charge.  Many things have changed over the years though.  Especially when the prices for LCD screens come down, companies tend to have a better replacment policy.
