What are the chances that SE will re-release ports of Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX for the PSP in the lead up to Dissidia. I ask, because alot of the heroes and villains may not be known to younger fans, and releasing VII, VIII and IX may re-familiarize fans with those games.

I wonder though, if it will happen, as there alot of PSP owners aquirinng those particular games through some other means.

In the lead up to dissdia id say nearly impossible......but the more i think about it the more i do think it is possible that they release at least ff7 re-rendered at some stage....just basing things on the popularity of ff7-cc it would make sense to release a psp version remake of the classic ff7.....they would make an absolute killing out of it.....and make alot of fans happy at the same time....getting to see a graphically enhanced version of the game would be fantastic imo.

I doubt any of those will come before Dissidia, but Final Fantasy V and VI could be a possibility.

A thought Ive been having about all those ff remakes that squeenix is doing for the ds is that when they they get to seven, they will remake it, just on the psp instead of the ds and continue on from there.

Im not even talking about total remakes with graphical upgrades which would cost money, I meant straight up ports. It would be so cheap, just transfer the data to UMD (or UMD's). I think they'd sell well pretty well. Who wouldnt want a portable version of those games to take on the bus/car. They would cost so little to produce, but could generate quite a bit of profit.

Well even with a straight up port i still doubt it will happen.....knowing square they would want the games to be re-rendered, the cut scenes wouldnt need much but the fight screens would be nice to see cleaned you alittle......(and its already very easy to play those ff's on the psp with firmware we arnt allowed to talk about)

It's possible that we could see them as downloads eventually, although I agree that SE would want to overhaul them to make them prettier and to make more money. It's all about the money, sadly. I'd consider buying an old PS1 just to play those games again.

If they do a hand held remake of FF7 I will never forgive them and never play another one of their games. They have to know that the entire freakin planet is dying...DYING for a fully Advent Children amazing ps3 remake of VII. They'd be fools to waste it on the psp. But thats probably what would happen..so I'm bracing myself for it..

FF8 is in the same boat. It deserves a top quality remake.

Slim to none. There are a TON of homebrewed Final Fantasies out there, and because of that, I doubt they'll respond with re-making those titles specific for the PSP. I'm assuming that if VII ever DOES come out again ('cause they are, then they aren't... then they are), it'll be a PS3-exclusive.
