PS> They are called Blu-Ray discs, not Blu-Ray DVD's, just FYI. (it's annoying because it's like calling a VHS tape a VHS Betamax tape)
Sorry about the blu ray thing i wasnt thinking....thanks for the info and help guys!Shalafein
Np, I wasn't trying to come across mean or anything, just an FYI.
Good luck on your decision. ;) And just remember, the PS3 has a very low failure rate compared to other consoles which name I won't mention.

It would be more like calling a DVD a Digital Video Tape. But as for pros of the Ps3. Well more power certainly, great exclusive games coming this year and next, less than a .1% failure rate according to sony, the controller has built in rechargable batteries (something neither of the competitors have), built in WiFi, Built in Gigabit Ethernet port, a quiet system, Free online (which through my tests has seen PSN to be better than XBL). As i type this my brother has spent at least 15 min trying to connect to XBL even tho he can chat with his friends it still says hes not online. We use Verizon FiOS so there isnt a problem there and my PS3 always works. So 50 bucks a year isnt getting you anything special, just something thats worse.
My main factor was reliability... after having two 360s die on me, and then having to put up with their draconian DRM policies, I decided to make Playstation 3 my primary gaming console.
BluRay player is a huge one, obviously. That the model I have is backwards compatible is also helpful. Built in wi-fi is nice and it generally works pretty good... free online is really nice.
Then there's the game selection... most of the best games on 360 are already here (GTA IV, Oblivion, Rock Band, Orange Box, COD4, etc), and the better exclusives on that console (Bioshock, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Viva Pinata) are available on PC. The exclusives on PS3 (Uncharted, Ratchet And Clank, etc) aren't available anywhere else. Obviously, if you're enticed by the idea of playing MGS4 and Final Fantasy XIII, then you've really got no other option.
are fanboys on all the posts around the ps3 forum and don't have lives other than to tell untrue statements about the ps3. I will break gaming down for you as whole for ps3 as well as all the others. The advantages of the PS3 as an individual are that you can use it for multiple functions of entertainment such as games, movies, music and so on. The controller ports are usb so you can put in a usb flash drive and easily transfer files from PC to ps3. If you are short on PS3 controllers and use a ps2 like controller as a gamepad for your PC, you can use that as a ps3 controller with no button configuration required. If your computer crashes and you need to get on the internet the ps3 has a web browser so that if you must get on for research or whatever you can do so. Granted the browser is nowhere near the quality of ones that are used on a computer, but hey if your network card blows out like mine did until I got a new one, you take what you can get.
You can upgrade your hard drive and to add more space to ps3. Now games are supporting uploading video's to youtube.
"the ps3 has no games" yes I am sure we have all heard that before, and even in this thread there are a couple of annoying people making that claim already, but there are 2 handfulls of very good to great exclusives on the ps3 already and more on the way.
Resistance, Motorstorm, Ridge Racer 7, Ninja Gaiden with extra content not in the other versions, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, Folklore, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted Drake's Fortune, UT 3 with mods, Hot Shots Golf, MLB the Show if you like sports.
There are also a lot of cool multiplats on the system Oblivion, GTA 4, DMC 4, COD 4 and others.
cool games to come out soon are
Haze (still up in the air about how it is)
MGS 4
Disgaea 3
Socom Confrontation
Little Big Planet
Motorstorm 2
Resistance 2
Valkyria Chronicles (maybe)
Multiplats for 08
Soul Calibur 4
Star Wars
Battlefield
Brothers in Arms
Mercenaries 2
the games of 09 include
Tekken 6
Infamous
White Knight Chronicles
Nobi Nobi Boy
Final Fantasy 13
Killzone 2
Gran Turismo 5 full version
Wardevil Enigma
God of War 3
Twisted Metal
Namco RPG
The Agency
Square Enix MMO
NC Soft MMO
Heavy Rain
Insomniac project 3 (Ratchet and Clank again most likely)
Naughty Dog project 2 (Jak and Daxter or Uncharted 2)
Eight Days (hopefully)
L. A. Noire (hopefully)
Rockstar Exclusive project (hopefully)
09 multiplats
Prototype
Street Fighter 4
Mortal Kombat game (not DC vs MK but regular MK)
Tomb Raider
you get the idea
I think the sequels to some of 360's exclusives are also coming to PS3 as well like Mass Effect 2
Every PS3 comes with a hard drive. Yes that seems like a given, but that has allowed the ps3 to score the MMO's it has and probably some other things down the road.
The Wii
cheap price tag, good online store for the nastalgic Nintendo fan, neat controlls (in theory and could have a lot of potential, alot of games to choose from, a lot of top notch first party titles. On a lot of games the remote is gimmicky and does not work well. a lot of games still play similar to GC games like Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Zelda, Fire Emblem. A lot of the top notch games have already come out on the wii such as Zelda, Paper Mario, Warioware, Monkey Ball, Mario Strikers, Metroid Prime 3, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Mario Galaxy, Fire Emblem, Batallion Wars, Zack and Wiki. What do they have left? We have more mario sport games, Tales of Symphonia 2, F-Zero (maybe), Star Fox(if any good, the gamecube ones while not bad were no where near as good as SNES and 64 versions), Pikmin, Rygar(maybe)
Some of the party games are barely even games to begin with and Wii fit is not a game at all. Nintendo claims to be cheap but has you buying balance boards and classic controllers, not to mention analog stick attatchments needed for games at an extra cost to you. Since it is a party oriented system, you will most likely be forced to buy multiple controllers so the cheap price quickly turns into the same amount as the "expensive systems". A lot of the other "controllers" are just a shell and just hold the wii mote inside of it like the zapper and the wii wheel. Yes the games are a little cheaper, but a lot those games aren't even worth $20 dollars like house of the dead 2 and 3. You could easily go to the barren arcade and buy two 5 dollar rolls of quarters and finsh both games if you wanted to. The only hard part would be finding an Arcade though. The online is almost laughable, you and your friends have to type in a 20 digit number code for playing together and there is no chatting at all or hard drive for games that might need it for games in general or online. You can only go online wirelessly out of box, it does not support hardwire ethernet cable normally. You have to go buy an adaptor for that kind of thing.
In short if you have 3 other friends and like pure fun with no goal oriented type activity then get the wii, but if you are kind of solo or 2 player then choose a different system.
The 360
It has quite a number of games on it's system and the online functioning is the most advanced out of the 3 consoles and is the second cheapest system out. It can do in game things like messaging, and talking to friends, music is playable while gaming, and has achievemnt points for the goal oriented person to give them an extra reason to replay a game. It has a lot of the same games as ps3 with games like GTA 4(with exclusive DLC but at probably a steep price), COD 4, DMC4 Assassins Creed, Soul Calibur 4, and big time exclusives like Halo 3, Mass Effect, Dead Rising, Saints Row, Crackdown, Eternal Sonata, Ninja Gaiden 2, Gears of War 1 and 2, Fable, Tales of Vesparia, Too Human, and Alan Wake, Project Gothom Racing, Bioshock, and a few others.
The 360 has a tendency to malfunction and then you can't play any games at all and sometimes microsoft sends back a used 360 and that one ends up breaking. You have to pay $50 per year to get online even just for the most basic functions. It does not support USB which means if you want to copy music or movies, or whatever you have to burn it to a cd. If you want to get online with a wireless connection you need to buy an adaptor of some sort because you can't do so out of the box. The achievement points don't do anything but add to a score card to use only for bragging rights. It isn't like they give extra leve's or features that aren't in another version some place else. Most of the software out on the system are shooters or have some type of element of shooting within them. While it has a lot of games, the variety in genre is pretty low even for being out 2 and half years. Not all 360's have hard drives, so when games come out that might require a hard drive, the game might not be able to be put on 360. If you add in the cost of a hard drive 360 combined with the online fees and the repair costs to your system if they need to be made then it doesn't seem that much cheaper then buying another console.
If you love online gaming and like doing other things in a game besides playing the game then get this system. If you are hardcore FPS fan or want to play PC games at a cheaper price then go for it.
If you want instant gratification get 360 for solo gaming or wii for multiplayer gaming. If you are in for the long hall and want something that doesn't quite stack up now, but will in the future and all for free with a bright future ahead of it in terms of games then go for the Black box. The PS3
are fanboys on all the posts around the ps3 forum and don't have lives other than to tell untrue statements about the ps3. gamenerd15
Not the best way to stop fanboys, but a decent way to create a flame. I hope you are not talking about me as I just bought a ps3, and am planning on enjoying it. Not all of your statements are untrue as well, as you complain about other's posts being not so.
I have to say it is a very well written post, but starting out with cynical insults leave a sour taste for readers who do no agree 100% with your post.

And how exactly is that a PS3 advantage?
