Now, I don't seethe big deal with this system, other than the graphics, so if I'm missing soemthing, please tell me. Like, what games would you buy this system for, what couldn't you get on ANY other system? What makes it so great? Also note, this isn't one of those "PS3 sucks" type of topics, I might be missing something here. Please tell me, and remember, not counting the graphics.Cubivore10
Many, many, MANY exclusives. Such as LittleBigPlanet, Metal Gear Solid 4, Socom, Tekken 6, etc.

Like every system, it has its great exclusives: MGS4, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Little Big Planet, Resistance 1 and 2, SOCOM, Tekken 6, God of War 3, FFXIII Versus, etc.
Built-in Blu-Ray player (don't underestimate the awesomeness of Blu-Ray)

i think blu-ray the most...
when i said 360 to my friend, he said " why would i buy it ? it has not even blu-ray "... it seems in europe people see PS3 as more than game machine only
Exclusives aside, it is the one of the cheapest blu-ray players available; the ability to read virtually any media CD/DVD and upscale them; the capability to playback movie files e.g. AVIs, MPGs. BC for those with the original 60GB and upscales PS2 games. Can insert digi-camera memory sticks/cards. Media servers are an added bonus too. I see it more as a media centre rather than a stand-alone games console.
Cheers :)
Built-in Blu-Ray player means it plays Hi-Def movies right out of the box. Wi-Fi ready means you can connect wirelessly to the internet w/out having to buy a reciever and free online service means that you only pay to play the game once, and that's when you buy the dang thing.
Wow, people seem to like this thing more for the fact that its a cheap blu-ray player, amirite?Cubivore10
I've been having mine for about a year and only rented one bluray movie and bought none...
for me, one really attractive aspect of the ps3 is the open nature of the system, mostly in regard to media. The ability to copy files to usb drives/memory cards is great, and the remote play features with the psp are pretty cool too. Add free online and you've got a machine that is as flexible as you want it to be.
I love the fact that you can download most stuff you buy on the store up to five times, so you can share it with your friends. I like how easy game saves are transfered and backed up, which means i don't have to worry about losing all my progress on oblivion if the file gets corrupt or my console goes south. You can even install linux (though i don't know why you would want to, but still the option is there).
This is great to see after being a slave to the ipod and its closed system. I just love the freedom sony's given us this gen. And with firmware updates and solid hardware, the platform will keep evolving giving owners even more options in the future.
Now just give us Home, dammit! lol
