Mind posting your monitor? HDMI cord if it has an HDMI input.

Maybe a HDMI to DVI adapter? Something like this this

I dont know if the DVI adapter will carry the sound though.

You're wasting your money by buying "official" cables.

A suggestion would be, don't bother, that monitor isn't HDCP compliant, so it wont work.

You have 2 output options with the PS3, HDMI or Multi-out. Any cable plugged into the HDMI port will require an HDCP compliant display. The Multi-out gives you the options of either a composite or component cable. If your monitor isn't HDCP compliant than you're left using the multi-out options. There is no all-in-one VGA cable for the PS3.

Does your monitor have HDMI port, built in speaker, and audio out? if so, that makes a lot of things easier.

I'm not sure, all i know is my moniter is Asus VW224 and this is what i had for the 360 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000B6MLTG/ref=oss_product . I also had this for the sound. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009JFF7K/ref=oss_product . I'd greatly appreciate it if someone helped me find a good option, because i basically have to use this moniter. The tv next to me is just plain crap. It's like 20 years old and it's one of the big tv's....

According to the user manual I found online, your monitor is HDCP compliant. You can pick up an HDMI to DVI cable from monoprice for $2.64 before shipping.

Thank you very much. Will any do? And one question. Isn't VGA better than DVI ? I want to be able to change between my computer and my ps3 with a click of the button ( like i did with the 360) if that changes anything.

VGA is analog, DVI is digital. Technically digital is better. You can have your PC hooked up through VGA and your PS3 through DVI, using the monitor's input switch to flip back and forth. According to the manual it's the button to the left of the Power button.

It's kind of curious the types of questions you're asking when you have your rig's specs in your sig.

Lmao. I knew which button it was. But i didn't really know the difference between dvi and vga. Considering my 360 was hooked with the VGA, it probably means my computer is hooked w/ DVI. So that means i need a HDMI to VGA cable. Am i correct ?

hdmi to dvi...get something gold plated (not monster cable) cause gold conducts best so far. only other thing id say is dont freak when theres no sound...just go into the system settins on the ps3 and force the audio output thru the multi a/v and hook it up to a stereo. unless u have a fiber optic capable receiver for digital audio...then thats the way to go. right now, i have my ps3 connected to my samsung lcd monitor and my stereo...so i can verify that it works 100%

My moniter is hooked up through DVI and i don't know where the VGA cord so i can't change that. So i'll need to find a HDMI to VGA cable instead of a HDMI to DVI cable. If im wrong, can you please tell me why. I'm horrible with this hdmi, vga, dvi stuff/

What about my post prior to that one:
You have 2 output options with the PS3, HDMI or Multi-out. Any cable plugged into the HDMI port will require an HDCP compliant display. The Multi-out gives you the options of either a composite or component cable. If your monitor isn't HDCP compliant than you're left using the multi-out options. There is no all-in-one VGA cable for the PS3.emitsu97
You can pick up a VGA cable for your PC from the same place I recommended for the HDMI cable.

If you're dead set on using VGA for your PS3 then you need an adapter the like of HDFury, also available from monoprice. It's $54 and you would still need an HDMI/DVI cable as well as a VGA cable.
