Do you enjoy going for trophys? Or rather just play the game?
I like the extra challenge at times to get the trophy's I can without wanting to through my PS3 out the window lmao

I play for the game.
when i first got my PS3, trophies were all i lived for, MORE GAMES, MORE TROPHIES, **** YEAH!
But then i played a few games, like the GOW collection that were real trophy throwers, it just numbed me to them, now i don't much care anymore
Oh my god, brilliant topic. I wonder why I haven't seen someone make a topic for this yet? Whydidn't I thinkof it!?
Anyway, I use trophies as a way to increase a game's replay value. It's like a challenge to overcome with bragging rights if you're able to complete them:P. I recently purchased Dead Space in the hopes of finishing up what my rental couldn't back when the game first came out. I beat what left of the game I had today and it was a very good game, but I would have no desire to go back through and replay itif I didn't have an extra driving force(Trophies).
Trophies give you a nice little list of extra things you can do during a game that you probably wouldn't bother with otherwise, or even know about. For instance with Red Dead Redemption, I would have never known you could hogtie a woman and put her on the railroad tracks and watch her get run over by a train. And I never would have bothered to get legendary status in one of the ambient challenges. That stuff added some extra fun to the game that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. And it's always kind of neat to see your trophy count go up.
i love going for trophies cause like above person said, it gives you that extra sense of accomplishment, and it adds replay value to games, that i would normally put down for good
they mean extra fun challenges if you want to get them. i dont need them but they are fun sometimes.
I'm a casual trophy hunter.
I play the game and whatever trophies I get while completing it I enjoy; but I am not going out of my way to get trophies that aren't linked directly into completing the game.

lol yh. maybe causal trophy gatherer is more aptI see them as challenges. Extra gameplay that can extend the replay value of most games.
The worst thing you can do with trophies is to go after them because you think that other people will care about the trophies you have, because people dont. If you want the challenge or feel compelled to 100% finish a game, go for it, but dont go for it because you think others will respect you or whatever, thats just laughable.
honestly i feel like no one else cares about your trophies except for you. for example, when i see someone who has a lvl 9, i dont think "oh boy he must be great at gaming". instead i think " boy this guy has too much time on his hands"
i dunno but thats just my opinion.

I agree that no one cares about your trophies except for yourself. If you are going for trophies for any reason other than your own entertainment, then you are doing it wrong. But, why do you care about other peoples then? Why judge someone else for how they game and spend their free time?
Nothing really it's nice to earn them but I won't push myself to do tedious missions like collecting certain objects which I get bored of very easily. Once I've finished a game I usually move straight on to another.
they basically mean i've accomplished something or that i'm actually good at a certain game, like when i got the 250 headshot trophy in uncharted 2
Trophies are great at adding replay value and added challenge to your games. It's a nice feeling to fully complete a game you've enjoyed.MushroomWig
^ this. You also can get more value out of your purchase. I usually go through games once normally and if I want to play it more, I have a look at the trophy list to see, what I could do
*didelang!*
*fist pump* YESSSSS.
I've had my PS3 for over a year, and I'm trophy level 11 with 3 plats... but I'm not a trophy hunter specifically. I'm not about to go plat Hannah Montana or something... :P

hmm i guess what i meant came out a bit wrong. i didn't mean it in an offensive way like " you have no life other than video games." i play too, sometimes more than i should, but i'd be a hypocrite if i were to accuse someone of "over-playing". as long as collecting trophies makes you happy, go for it ! it sure makes me happy and i'm proud of some of the difficult achievement i acquired.
I love trophies because it creates some competition amongst you and your friends. It's also a great feeling of achievement. I enjoy buying a game and finding a difficult trophy because it creates an extra challenge, making the game even more fun.n33d2skateThe friends on my list that I know in real life , they're under level 5, because they game mostly online. However the gamespot people I added, wow, it doesnt make sense trying to compete with yall, too many platinums
