Story. I love games with a good story.Big_Bad_Sad^This^ Story is just so damn important to a game IMO. Having said that if its a sports game or something, then obviously gameplay.
1. Story - to keep me playing
2. Gameplay - should be fun
3. Length - should be at least 20 hours
4. Types of weapons - I prefer blades
5. Replay Value - things (weapons, items, abilities, level, etc) should carry over on the 2nd run or new game+
5. Graphics and sounds
100. Trophies and online - I don't care about these
1. Story ( I know people would say :" But without gameplay a game sucks", thats true but i would rather have a great story and a medium gameplay than great gameplay and an uninteresting story)
2. Gameplay ( obvious:P)
3. Sound ( I think soundtrack gives a real demonstration of a game, like Mirror's Edge soundtrack for example, its awesome, and the other thing is since I like Horror games they would be totally stupid without a spooky sound, it just brings the atmosphere, and of course good voice acting)
4. Graphics ( Graphics aren't the most important, they are, but the first 3 are more important, but since almost every game in this year looks good, there is nothing to worry about)
5. Online ( Its more like an addition than a part of game, online is a good feature to have, but not a needed one)
6. Duration ( Its the least important to me, although a good game with like 100 gameplay is awesome, i would prefer a 8 hour game with great gameplay, awesome story, good graphics, excellent sound, rather than a 50 hour game with everything on its lowest.

I really agree on no. 1 :)
Well since this wasn't a poll, I'm going to say OPTIONS! Seriously though, the more options I have in the game, the more appealing it is. When I can control the ending, when I decide what my person looks like, what weapons to use, and how I want to play, I end up replaying the game more and I enjoy the experience. Games like Prince of Persia don't give me enough options for me to enjoy the game, its like watching a movie. Games like Fallout 3, MGS4, CoD, have enough options for me to keep me entertained. Call it gameplay, but killzone 2 has gameplay, but lacks options, so I don't get as into it.Ninja_Zombie83
mgs4 in my opinion had too much hype and kojima is a god you can't even criticize him! mgs4 is not that good in terms of gameplay, after playing it i thought i just watched a movie...

I guess it depends on what you define Gameplay as. You can say it had too much hype and its not that good in terms of gameplay, but its one of the highest ranked game on every game website and continues to be compared to other games since its release almost 2 years ago. You don't get that sort of reputation from a game full of hype and so-so gameplay. Its earned what it has.Graphics, gameplay, soundtrack, online, or character?

Same except Gameplay comes before Graphics[QUOTE="Weedsucker"][QUOTE="Ninja_Zombie83"]Well since this wasn't a poll, I'm going to say OPTIONS! 1) Gameplay - For me, it's got to be enjoyable, even if the story is slightly weak.
2) Story - A good story can take a game places. Look what Bioshock can give us!
3) Controls - They've got to "feel" good cause if they "feel" clunky I'm not "feeling" it.
I can only think of 3 at the moment.

Oh yeah, that's very important for me too.
Nowadays, I want games were I have the option on how to play it.
Controls. Most important has to be the controls.. i have played games that could have been awesome but because of the controls it was just frustrating..
Enjoyment. Another important one is enjoyment.. it either has to be an experience or fun..
Smoothness. no glitches, errors, freezes, lag ect.. basically having these in games ruin #2, but sometimes can be ignored..
Co-op. I love cooperative, whether it is online or not.. nowadays i prefer online.. Coop really can make a bad game enjoyable..
Extras. These are side missions, bonus modes something more then just the campaign..
Graphics. Amazing graphics are nice but if the things listed above are satisfying then i couldn't care less.. Still i like nice things to look at..
Difficulty. Sometimes a game can try to be too hard, and sometimes they are just too easy..
Online. depending on the game this could be higher on the list, however i always play the SP first and only take it online if i enjoy it.
Customization. I like creating my own characters.. and having the options of upgrading armor, learning new abilities.. ect..
Music. The right choice here can set the mood of the game.. and the wrong choice can annoy.. but music can never ruin a game..
Story. Not that important to me.. watching a lot of movies and reading a lot of books all stories are pretty much cliche for me.. i still get into the story but this has absolutely no affect on the reasons why or why not i enjoyed the game.. However, characters in the game that are annoying do hinder my experience a little bit.. but never that much..
Length. I love a long game. However if it is extremely fun or an amazing experience i couldn't care less..
Replay. Some of my favorite games this generation are some that i only played through a single time. It's not that i didn't want to play it again, it was the huge list of games i want to play..
Trophies. i don't really care about them whatsoever..
DLC. Hate it, unless it ends up on a GOTY version at a later date.. but i can't stand a game coming out then for $15 you can also have this..
* Most Important
* Moderately Important
* Not Important
I didn't put in gameplay for the simple reason as it really can't be defined.. most people say it's the amount of fun you have or when you aren't in a cut scene actually playing the game.. but i always thought of it as your interaction with the game, and don't all the things listed above equal that? that's what i think..
