What do you hate about new PS3 owners?

I'll tell you what I hate. I hate that they don't do any research on the system before investing hundreds of dollars into it. They could simply go to Wiki to get an overview of the system but they do not. They come to forums and get all sorts of misinformation and then create threads about things like a lack of wi-fi in their system when they're system has wi-fi. They ask the most basic questions, i.e. "What games are out for PS3" and "Can my 40gb play PS2 games" over and over. As a 60gb owner since January 07, I can say I bought the system even though there was a game drought and practically no one was online in anything except Resistance. What's my point? My point is that I did research. I looked at the games to come, looked at the features, looked at the competition, and made a decision. How someone doesn't do the same is just insane to me.

And if you're a kid about to say "I got it for Christmas" then that's your fault for not educating your parents. I now how it goes: "Timmy what do you want for Christmas"

And your parents go out and get you the 40gb because you loved Spiderman 3 so much and it's cheaper not knowing they could have got a 60gb for the same price (if not less) and found a copy of Spiderman 3 in almost any garbage bin (you can tell I didn't like that movie at all huh).

It's a bit harsh opinion for the new comer... Not everyone is internet savy unfortunately and it's pretty easy to ignore those threads unless you happen to be the guy that has to read everything. I'd say educate them or just point them in the right direction, or maybe make fun of them if you are one of those n00b haters (which you yourself had been at one point).

But then again I think those threads are way less annoying than those ones about "MGS4 coming to 360" rumor threads that I kept on clicking :D So not everyone's perfect.

About that you say "Mom plz buy me a PS3" .. I think nowdays is more like "Mom buy me a Wii".So mom thinks,its cheap and voila :D

I know what you mean. Last week I was in Gamestop and this couple came in looking for a Wii (yea, right, you'll find one of those), well of course they didn't have one, so the knappy-headed saleman was singing the praises of the 360. Stuff like: more games, better games, more exclusives, Halo 3 (which didn't really bother me cause it's a pretty good game). What really got me angry was how the PS3 had no good qualities, and the 360 had no faults (red ring of death?!?!). Now if this couple looking for a game system for there kids bought the 360, they deserve whatever probelms they end up w/. I personally bought the 60 GB PS3, becasue I still have about 50 PS2 games that I would still like to play.

My point is: when spending $400 on a game system, you owe it to yourself to do some research and find out what your getting into. And if your job includes selling game systems, you OWE it to the public at large to provide them w/asmuch information asthey will need to make an informed decision, not force your own opinions on them. People aren't stupid.

I help people with questions (even if the question is stupid) every time I can.

i dunno if i hate PS3 owners... especailly that Im one of them lol I bought my 40G PS3 on 12/28/07. I didnt care about the lack of PS2 compatibilty, I still kept my PS2. I cared about the blu-ray HD player, wi-fiand playing these awesome games. I was crossing my fingers hopefully i picked the right format in the HD war (turns out I did hehe)

Anyway, i dont hate new ps3 owners, especially if they were given wrong info on systems by workers or family members or what not. Should they have had spend a little more time on research and time making decisions? Probably. Should potental buyers look more into these forums? Probably. When the PS3 prices went down and new models came out at the end of summer, I decided to invest in the PS3 later on around Christmas time. I had plenty of time to save money and research. I am just talking about me and generalizing.

the point of a forum is to talk to other people and that involves asking questions too

I agree though these days you get more and more people storming in here demanding we do stuff for them or insisting something PS3 related is crap and we should convince them to like it, and when some1 does ask a question properly they seem to vanish and never reply again making it impossible for any1 with the same problem to relate to that topic, if it did actually help them... And ofcourse no 'thank you'...

as a new ps3 owner i resent that. but this could be because i'm not a 12 year old kid who got it for christmas. i went out and spent 700 dollars of my own money to buy it, COD4, Assassin's Creed, and a controller.

You gotta figure, most of those people making those threads are dumb/children. It happens on all threads of all games and all consoles. Kids get something for christmas..and seriously ask the dumbest things ever. Once on the WoW forums someone asked how to open their map...nuff said.

That most of them think that they are the only person with one and that only they have a certain game and they never stop telling you about it even if you dont care or have the game as well. i have a friend like that.

No. At gamestop we tell them what each system has. We cannot be biased towards one or the other. People just see "Ohh cheaper!" and buy into it. I bought the 80gig after looking over and over again to make sure it was what i wanted. People just don't understand why 100 dollars is worth it. I have to say unless you want the hardrive, there really isn't a huge reason to get the 80.
