What do you think of the new price drop and bundle?

$499 looks like a very good deal next to the $479 360 Elite with 120GB but no Wifi or HD movie capability. Things are gonna heat up in this console war.ajefferism

Wow i didnt know the gap was that narrow in the US.

If only they made it similarly narrow in the UK and Europe sales would rocket. But they will probably keep ours ridiculously high. (It costs like £250 at the moment in the US, yet costs us in europe£425) Not very nice.

SCEE has announced that they will have a major announcement at E3, related to the SCEA price drop announcement.

I am a tad bit upset about this. I got a 60GB for$599 and didn't get a free movie or anything....Now their saying that if I would have waited then I could have got 20 extra GB and a free game! WTF!!! I should get some kind of credit for something! I feel a bit ripped off!! dennmann29

the rumble controller would have to be announced at E3. If it's not announced, then don't count on it being included in the deal.

it would seem that something else is included in the deal. look at the price:

60GB PS3 - $499
MotorStorm - $60

that would put the 20GB of extra space as costing $40. that seems way too expensive for only 20GB. seems like there is more to the price than they have led on.

Sounds great, gives me more people to kill on Resistence.

I am not complaining but stating that if you bought a launch version then they gave you a movie...If you waited till now you get 20 extra GB and a game if you bought one in the middle of all the BS then you get a free anal exam! WHOOPEE! I am saying that I spent a lot of my hard earned money on this system for them to upgrade it not 6 months later with more memory and a game for the same price! That is what I am saying. Is it fair to say I am not complaining but stating that how can this be justified to comsumers like me. Like I said it's not like it has been a year or two and you could say in that time I would have gotten my money out of it but it's only been 6 months and the games are only starting to show up...so that is why I am feeling a little ripped off!

what other electronics sells at a loss off the bat? nothing that I can think of(maybe cell phones with new contracts)

what other electronics drops prices in a very short amount of time? everything. I bought an HDTV last year for $1200. that same TV is now $600. Do I feel burned? no. that's the nature of the electronics industry. Things get cheaper to make, therefore the prices go down. It's not like furniture that stays the same price for 20 years because there is only one way to make furniture. It's kinda hard to "stream-line" the manufacturing process of a sofa.

If I go out and buy a new plasma TV tomorrow for $4000 and next month, the company has a $500 off rebate for that same TV, do I feel burned? no. I could have waited for a rebate to happen because they happen all the time. but I didn't because I wanted the TV now.

your missing the point..the ONLY reason this is being done is b/c its not selling....no b/c its now cheaper to make....and don't give me that bs article that they are making a profit on the systems now b/c its just not true...he has every right to feel cheated...I can handle that fine but if you can't see how that hurts you most loyal cust then i can't help you...9 months is way to soon for a price drop like this on a "console"

This turned out to be the worst kept secret in the buisness. I'm sure they planned on waiting but, so much speculation has come out over this I think it was smart on thier part to come out on record and say yeah its true.
