The obvious answer is to get a Monster Hunter game on the system and that will certainly work, but you can't let the fate of your product be determined by one company putting a game on it. So I guess my real question is besides Monster Hunter, what do you think sony will have to do to make the Vita a success in Japan?

It's gotta be Monster Hunter, or a steady stream of support from Square Enix (FF, DQ, KH, the works).

I hope it does eventually succeed in Japan because I like a lot of Japanese games and it would be a shame if Japanese devs stop making games for the Vita because it's not successful down there.

If it doesn't succeed there, then that is a VERY bad sign (given how the PSP did) ...which sucks b/c the psp is one of my most favorite systems ever

more games that appeal to that audience. most of the games for vita right now are western-oriented.

Maybe create their own version of monster hunter but with Sony characters?

Bad idea actually, they most likely need more Rpg's like final fantasy etc etc.

The PSP has done well in Japan so as long as they keep coming out with games for the Vita, naturally PSP users will eventually get the Vita. Didn't the PSP have a slow start in Japan as well? Once the Japanese games start coming out though there won't be any reason to get a 3DS over a Vita.

The PSP also had a super slow start in Japan, it was only later in the past 2 years did it start to really shift heavy numbers, it just needs a japanese killer app.

More JP support is what it needs. Monster Hunter, Gran Turismo, and more JRPGs would certainly help.

Right now, the Vita just doesn't have the software. It's got some good stuff, but right now it's either a) ports, or b) stuff that appeals to Westerners.

They just need to bring out games that the Japanese actually want to play. Uncharted was a launch title in Japan but people don't really care for it over there.

Just come out rolling with a few JRPG's and it should be fine. Maybe a couple of FF games.

Needs a New Monster Hunter, they need to suuport the hell out of it and shove money in it and for advertising for the game, Sony were idiots with their lineup for their launch, nothing the Japanese Gamers love.
