What ever happened to the original PS3 controller?

I remember it being with the PS3 when it was announced but what ever happened to it, and can you buy the controller?

That controller looks really uncomfortable. Pressing L and R buttons on it would be irritating.

But I remember that design. Happy they scrapped it.

They changed it to the Six Axis because that thing is horrendous.
