Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops would have to be my definite picks. But there's so many more games worth playing besides these three.

never knew SOCOM had a good story line.....if ur looking for good story and good infrastructure multiplayer try metal gear solid: portable ops and syphon filter: dark mirror
syphon Filter DM, Tekken DR, MegaMan Powered Up, Mgs: PO, Crush, Lumines (1 or 2), Daxter, Street Fighter A3m ( most fighters and modes of any version out), Killzone Liberation, would be my picks for must have psp games.
kingdom of paradise is an excellent rpg. though it has a learning curve of about 5 hours in my opinion, (hard text to get used to like bougei, kenpu, etc.) it is great once u get going
but from my point of view the gr8 games are just coming. i guess the PSP gaming is just evolving heh :D personally i hardly wait for God of war: chains of olympus, Star wars battlefront rouge squadron, star wars: the force unleashed and that kinnda stuff (ill buy all 3)
The number one game for the PSP, IMHO, is Vice City Stories. It's alot like Liberty City Stories, but much bigger and better with more abilities and options, and a better soundtrack, and slightly better graphics ;-)
