Looking at my collection I see what I have a literal balance between shooters and RPGs. Other than that I have a few action/adventure games like Batman and Heavy Rain, but shooters and RPGs just hog the shelf. :P
So what about you folks?

for PS3 it's
Action Adventure x7 (Batman Arkham Asylum, Batman Arkham City, inFAMOUS, inFAMOUS 2, Daksiders, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Assassin's Creed II)
platformer x3 (Rayman Origins, De Blob 2, A cRack in Time)
hack n slash x2 (Bayonetta, Devil May Cry 4)
fighter x2 (Super Street Fighter IV, Street Fighter X Tekken)
open world x1 (Just Cause 2)
Racing x1 (Modnation Racers)
TPS x1 (Uncharted 2)
sports x1 (Fight Night Champion)
Shoot them ups is my biggest videogame genre across all my systems. But on Playstation 3 Third person shooter/adventure games. eg Uncharted 1,2,3/tom raidergames with a third person perspective, shooter/adventure games. Even the Transformers games fall under the third person perspective viewpoint. just shooting with robots insteadm of people.
Definitely Role Playing Games, I have started to offload any other game types, they just don't hold my interest.
I have a range. Mostly shooters and action/horror adventure games, but I have a few RPG's and side-scrolling platformers, plus a sports game.
Action Adventure Games (Resident Evil 5, Uncharted 1, 2, and 3, Tomb Raider Trilogy, and Heavenly Sword) and Sandbox Games (Fallout 3, Oblivion, Yakuza 3, and Little Big Planet) seem to be the majority of my games. I also own one Survival Horror Game (Siren New Translation) and one RPG Game (Demon's Souls).

I'd categorize those as TPS games. There is no adventuring in them whatsoever... At least that's how I feel

Any game can be considered and adventure game. 90% of video games get grouped in the Action Adventure category on most websites. I pretty much label any game that doesn't have strong sandbox, RPG, or FPS elements as an adventure game.
Nothing beats FPS for me. I like RPGs, adventure games and racing games like Dirt or Grid, but competitive online FPS is the best by far for me. I don't like RTS games, even though I do play them sometimes.
Fighting, it is the main reason I got the system (besides MGS 4 and Uncharted)
I own:
Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom
King of Fighters XIII
Mortal Kombat
Soul Calibur V
plus a bunch more from PSN.
I also was interested in SF x Tekken but I'll wait for now.
