[QUOTE="DarkMaster7991"]Oh and I checked out Reel Fishing: The Great Outdoors. Not that bad of a game. Takes patience but really isn't that bad. Maybe might want to rent it or get it used ot try.(No sarcasm or joke intended). [Special Thanks to Ston3henge for the Recommendation on the fourms]ston3henge
Indeed.
There's a subtle sort of zen to the game... it's kind of like how the scientists figured out that Tetris causes an endorphin rush in female players a few years ago (no lie). "Reel Fishing: The Great Outdoors" is confusing to most gamers because there's no dramatic RUSH to do much of anything. The joy of it is in finding out how to correctly play each species (and subsequently, each size of each species)... the temptation is to quit, to mash on the 'X' and reel like JoJo The Idiot Boy, and all that will get is a broken line or a lost catch. There are a TON of real-world fishing tips and tricks which actually work here... you need patience to figure the optimal feeding times of each species, and how to work their environments and what sort of baits work in combination with all of the other possibilities... there's really no "failure" in the game, if you lose too many bits of tackle the old guy who's hosting you will brow-beat you for squandering his stuff, but you never "lose". And even though some of the things the old dude says can be taken in a slightly creepy tone, he's got good advice about how to land an illusive trophy.
It's not for everyone, but there is a really deep game here for people who take the time to try... for example, it took me forever to start catching Large-Mouth Bass. The Bluegill were easy, butI had to work through a day of catching Bluegill until the sun started to dip, and then the bass started hitting fast and furious... and when that Lunker hits and you manage to land it, you feel like you've been through a struggle.
It's a good game to have in the collection, one that you can use as a cool-down... and you'll find yourself wanting to up that catch record after awhile, getting a trout that's just a liiiiittle bigger than the last one you hauled out of the river... It's not like those "Bass Challenge!!!" arcade games where the announcer yells at you about time limits, it's about getting out on the bank of the lake and casting, relaxing, and every once in awhile, getting that big'n. The graphics aren't quite as cool as the console versions, and technically this is a port of "Reel Fishing III" I've found... oddly enough, my favorite so far of the four games, graphically, is still the first one which I think is a PSOne game (I wish I had the first two but I gave them away after beating them, still have "III" but it's been broken wide open)... but it's not bad at all in any department on the PSP. There's even an ad-hoc mode so you CAN compete with a pal, heh heh...
Rent it through GameFly or something first if you can do so conveniently... and be patient, above all, because it is NOT a traditional video game... but try it out! Y'know, there was a time when all of my friends looked at me likeI was nuts for pushing video golf games, and then Golden Tee and Tiger Woods/ EA Sports made it more than cool... get on the NEW trend ahead of the bell-curve, folks!
:D
PS - Thanks for the props andfor actually taking meseriously long enough to discover your inner angler, Dark! Glad i could turn you on to something you might not have looked twice at... I love it when someone does that for me! It's a big ol' world out there kids, and it doesn't start and stop with "Resistance" and "FFCC".
Yeah. When you first talked about I wasn't sure. I wasn't a fan of fishing games...well I really didn't play them that much....(besides a particular one I had for the dreamcast..can't remeber the name). The other day decided to get it used and was happy with it.
