Honestly , five years ago there was houndreds of cheats!!! I am not saying I liked them , but why do we not see as many these days? Is it because of the fact of the online gaming? Or somethings else?

I think it's primarily because of achievements and trophies. Like, just imagine how easy it would be to get the really hard achievements/trophies in certain games if you had a god code entered. While some games still have them, with or without disabling the trophies.achievements, I think developers are starting to do away with them in order to put the game on an even playing ground for everyone in the beginning.
Cheats were usually to help with ridiculously difficult parts or get around annoying bits in a game. Now games are developed better and there isn't much need for them, so they just don't bother to put them in.
I believe that GTA IV had cheats

This.
Entering a cheat on GTAIV disables certain trophies, but to be honest I don't care for cheats and I'm glad that most developers did away with them. Most games have plenty of unlockables. Lets take Uncharted for example; Upon finding set amounts of treasure, performing certain actions, and beating the game there are PLENTY of unlockables to enjoy such as characters skins, graphical effects, weapons, etc.
I actually like having the cheats, but only to use for fun after I beat the game once. It added replayability for me, especially with GTA: San Andreas. I loved flying cars around the map, spawning tanks anywhere and going on rampages with invincability on. I missed having all that in GTA 4 and it's probably why I didn't play it as much..
but I do miss extras and unlockables, like skins Tikicobra
it's better to buy em asDLC , isn't it ? much easier then unlocking imo
cheats are everywhere. They were created to help programers to test faster the games and now its the same. Look at gta4, the orange box (half life 2) and ninja gaiden, even in the same gamespot pages or elsewhere on the net. You have walkthroughs, codes or secuences....its true that years ago most game were more difficult and some tricks were more appreciated but well you have the option to choose if you find them or get licked to the net.-

What?
Games still have cheats, it's just that a lot of them don't affect gameplay awhole lot and most of them aren't as cool as they used to be. Take MGS4 for example, you can use cheats in the extras menu after beating the game to unlock weapons like the Thor (That gun is asome.) The newest game I've played that has a whole lot of cheats is the Sims 3 for the PC.
So glad they don't put cheats in many games these days, was so relieved when I got GTA:IV and saw there was hardly any, San Andreas and the ammount of cheats for it just annoyed me.
Cheats are really fun, but they discourage actual gaming and spoils people... I understood that when I went through an entire play through of Mercs 2 with all cheats. Then, I tried to play it normally. I failed hard.GodofBigMacs
So... I'm not the only one who did that on Mercs 2... GREAT game...Once you had cheats enabled!
it's also good with less or no cheats, it's more fun and challenging. and brings out the gamer talent in you if you try to beat a game as it is. coz some of the cheats and unlockables are non-sense and unnecessary, but it's cool bonus fun sometimes.
for example try beating gta4 w/o using cheats, it's efin hard! but fun!

Maan, that sounds messed up. And I don't mean that in a sexual way. Instead of earning them, we BUY them. Oh man, oh MAN.Im kind of glad they have died down. I did play through most of San Andreas using cheats because I just couldn't play without them. But even though GTA4 has cheats I never use them.. they just aren't needed.
But the DS has action replay and the Wii might have something..
