Honestly , five years ago there was houndreds of cheats!!! I am not saying I liked them , but why do we not see as many these days? Is it because of the fact of the online gaming? Or somethings else?

Lego Indiana Jones is the last game I played with cheats. I don't really miss them that much, but I do miss extras and unlockables, like skins and big head mode.

See em sometimes. I think that hardcore gamers dont use them anyway, so why put them in the game. It totally changes the experience of a game, and devs want to keep the game the way it was meant to be experienced.

I think it's primarily because of achievements and trophies. Like, just imagine how easy it would be to get the really hard achievements/trophies in certain games if you had a god code entered. While some games still have them, with or without disabling the trophies.achievements, I think developers are starting to do away with them in order to put the game on an even playing ground for everyone in the beginning.

they're not really used as they're not really needed anymore. if they wanna test out a level or something the devs just boot up to that area, give themselves whatever they want and test it, no cheat codes necessary any more.

There is no use for them on ps3 games really because instead of going on free roam

on a lot of ps2 games and puttin in cheats to mess about people just go online on ps3 games

plus you shouldn't really need them.

Games these days are not as difficult as the ones we played growing up. There is really no need for them. I think that cheats were originally used to test out games and now that they are not as difficult then there is no point.

I think its better without cheats. I mean, I remember GTA San Andreas. It had hundreds of cheats, and when there is that much, there is no challenge. I'm not saying there no fun (like flying cars in San Andreas :P )

Nobody really uses them now because theres no need, half the games ain't even that hard and then if it is it just takes the challenge out the of the game.

Cheats are really fun, but they discourage actual gaming and spoils people... I understood that when I went through an entire play through of Mercs 2 with all cheats. Then, I tried to play it normally. I failed hard.

Cheats were usually to help with ridiculously difficult parts or get around annoying bits in a game. Now games are developed better and there isn't much need for them, so they just don't bother to put them in.

bmart777

This.

Entering a cheat on GTAIV disables certain trophies, but to be honest I don't care for cheats and I'm glad that most developers did away with them. Most games have plenty of unlockables. Lets take Uncharted for example; Upon finding set amounts of treasure, performing certain actions, and beating the game there are PLENTY of unlockables to enjoy such as characters skins, graphical effects, weapons, etc.

I actually like having the cheats, but only to use for fun after I beat the game once. It added replayability for me, especially with GTA: San Andreas. I loved flying cars around the map, spawning tanks anywhere and going on rampages with invincability on. I missed having all that in GTA 4 and it's probably why I didn't play it as much..

I'm glad that there not that many cheates anymore I wish all of the cheats go away myself. As for people glitching that's no big deal because once you figure out where these glithers are then there very easy targets.

cheats are everywhere. They were created to help programers to test faster the games and now its the same. Look at gta4, the orange box (half life 2) and ninja gaiden, even in the same gamespot pages or elsewhere on the net. You have walkthroughs, codes or secuences....its true that years ago most game were more difficult and some tricks were more appreciated but well you have the option to choose if you find them or get licked to the net.-

The only games that are fun to use cheats in were Mercenaries:Playground of Destruction for PS2 and Saint Rows 2. Beside that cheats aren't really need it, because in most fps you feel unstoppable anyway.

Games still have cheats, it's just that a lot of them don't affect gameplay awhole lot and most of them aren't as cool as they used to be. Take MGS4 for example, you can use cheats in the extras menu after beating the game to unlock weapons like the Thor (That gun is asome.) The newest game I've played that has a whole lot of cheats is the Sims 3 for the PC.

So glad they don't put cheats in many games these days, was so relieved when I got GTA:IV and saw there was hardly any, San Andreas and the ammount of cheats for it just annoyed me.

it's also good with less or no cheats, it's more fun and challenging. and brings out the gamer talent in you if you try to beat a game as it is. coz some of the cheats and unlockables are non-sense and unnecessary, but it's cool bonus fun sometimes.

for example try beating gta4 w/o using cheats, it's efin hard! but fun!

Im kind of glad they have died down. I did play through most of San Andreas using cheats because I just couldn't play without them. But even though GTA4 has cheats I never use them.. they just aren't needed.

But the DS has action replay and the Wii might have something..

There's still lots of cheats in games, in fact nearly every game released comes with cheats. The last few games I've played with cheats were Dead Space, MGS4, GTA4. I never use cheats on my first playthrough a game as I'd like to test my skill level, but after a completion....sure..I'll run through a game with infinite ammo or something. It was fun as hell back when I played the first Doom with god mode and it's still fun today using them on future games. Most people who claim "I never use cheats" usually have their game sitting on the shelf collecting dust.

Seriously..those people that cheats for games....ruins the fun of the game....=D

I mean like...getting all the weapons at the beggining....O_O ..yeah...like it will encourage me to move on in the game...
