I think everything is region free now so i don't think it would matter. At least i think it is for games...movies might be a different story.

Games are region free, I think Blu Ray is region free. Old school DVD movies may give you a problem if anything for sure will. I don't know that it's worth all that just to be able to play PS2 games - I'd say go get a used PS2 slim and get the 40 GB PS3. I have a lot of PS2 games to finish, but I haven't played any of them for months now, PS3 is just too addicting.

Depending on which model you got then you'll only be able to play USA Ps2 games, All (so far) Ps3 games, Region A blu-ray movies (though there are some regionless) and you'll need a decent tv with a stepdown converter (500w min) to play it.

i think i'll buy the 80 gb motorstorm packed and i dont even care about the ps2 games actually, also i heard that blu ray films are gonna be region free in the near future. is this true? and i heard some locking problems like when i get in to the internet the machine gets, it's not from region 1 and locks itself....

i got an 720p hd tv and didn't get what you mean by that 500W thing...

Sounds Sweet. You can't just plug a ps3 into the electric mains in the uk. For one thing the plug socket itself is a different shape. Two pins instead of three. it also runs at a different current (technical dribble) but basically you need a stepdown conveter to play USmachines in the UK.

There are like 50 threads on this subject - I have answered in probably 15 but to tired to do it again. do a simple search or check the other thred that is still on the top 2 pages on the same subject....

There are NTSC / PAL issues - if you don't have an HDTV so I recommend checking the complete answer

If any of the stores in your country sell NTSC games then buy an NTSC ps3 cuz I have an NTSC ps3 and played assassin's creed which is a pal version and it kept freezing. I contacted ubisoft and told them about the situation and they told that I should get an NTSC versio of assassin creed. Games are region free but they work fine with their compitable version of ps3

nope they wont be for the simple fact companies like to scrape every dime that they can from everything. they probably make a small penny off this region business but its still a shiny one.

i think i'll add some extra 250 bucks and buy the pal version from our country cuz i'm so suspicious and i can't help it lol, i heard that machine understands and locks itself when you get in to the internet from a different region that wasn't the one it had producted in. how complicated isthis bastard !!!
