This question also goes to Xbox360 and Wiis.
Though Nintendo doesn't have that much of a problem with their VC.
Microsoft are trying to address the issue with games on demand, though the Xbox's library is not as substantial as PS2's.
What happens come next generation when PS3, Xbox360 and Wii owners have bought all those games, as well as the millions of PS2 owners- will we just have to buy another console and when ever we want to play the old games we have to switch to the older consoles?
PS1 ws one of the first to introduce cd formats for consoles, PS2 introduced dvd formats with BC for consoles, PS3 introduced Bluray formats for consoles and had an on/off again BC issue.
Is it really blu-ray that is a cost? I remember PS1, and PS2's being extremely expensive initially with the new formats, yet has gone down in price and sold millions with out losing the ability to play the HHHUUUGGEE back catalogue of games.
Will we just purchase more consoles and clutter up the lounge?.
The lounge is basically Microsoft and Sony's ultimate goal of domination yet it looks like it may turn out to be a bit clumsy having multple consoles just to play older games.
None of this
"Just get a PS2"
"I just want to play new games"
A lot of PS2 owners are satisfied with their PS2 games and it is still being supported, arcade games are very popular and PS2s are still selling.
So will we have to buy more consoles to support the back log of games from now on do we?
