For anything under 8ms the difference becomes negligible. Some manufacturers will list gray to gray response time instead of the full black to white response time. Black to white is the one you want to know about. Also, don't be fooled in considering only one aspect of a set, picture quality is made of a multitude of factors, not one. Finaly, to the guy who said anything below 12 is not noticable : False.

They do not make those any more, they make the bravia & xbr. The Wega was a term used quite a bit of time ago.

No there are particular sets where you can not turn DNIe off. Like the LNS-3251D or the LNS-3241D. Mainly anything but their newest 1080p set, but that set has nasty overscan anyway.

And it is not true. Sharp and Sony both have Sammy's current sets beat in terms of response time... save maybe Sammy's 1080p set which is still not up to standards with the 1080p offerings from Sharp and Sony.

Correct, the 95D line has a massive overscan between 3.5-5% on any input. While it can be normal to have overscan for non HD , or analog sources, it is not acceptable to not map 1:1 pixels from a digital source. When you feed the set a pure 1080p signal through HDMI, you lose around 4% of the picture all the way around the set. No other 1080p set does this, and it is pure laziness on behalf of Sammy. The set also has a massive green push which is near impossible to get rid of, even with an ISF calibration.

Really I just got the 4695D and I hadn't noticed it (yet). But I have OCD so I'm going to research it now. Can you tell me where heard this? Thanks. P.S. I've heard about the green push, but that is only in defective sets, mine doesn't have it.

I am ISF certified so I have just experienced it first hand. You can most likely find out more at avsforum.com But since you have already bought it, I recommend just forgetting what I said and enjoying the set. Make sure you run through Avia at least once every couple months and you will be fine.

I have a Dell 24" widescreen flatpanel monitor which I believe has a response time of 8ms or was it 6ms.......  The point I'm bringing up is that I've compared it with my buddy's 37"(?) Plasma Sam. & the difference is not that big of a deal.  Yeah,  the Plasma is much more crisp but not a huge difference in detail honestly.  We compared it with the same games side by side only the black & white sections were more pronounced in the Plasma though.....  Considering that the amount of money that he spent for his Plasma was double more than what I spent I'd expected more in details in the graphics.  I guess as time goes on & games get more detailed maybe there'll be a huge increase in detail on the Plasma but then I could be wrong.

Hi, this isn't what the poster intended in terms of response time. I looked up the term for everyone who doesnt know. "The amount of time it takes for a liquid crystal cell to go from active (black) to inactive (white) and back to active (black) again. It is measured in milliseconds (ms)."

If you have a slow response time you may see "ghosting" on the screen, (ie) where a pictures image trails.

Wow, why do people not calibrate their sets? If you have your set in torch mode, I feel bad for you. Avia is a calibration DVD that helps you set contrast, color, tint, brightness, black level, sharpness and more. Go pick up a copy before you ruin your tv any more.

Samsung z41,it's an 32" crt HDTV that supports 720p and 1080i,has HDMI and everything you want from an HDTV.

Oh and btw if you didn't know CRT's have 0 response times, lcd's and plasma's can't touch them. Also there super cheap for HDTV so i would highly recommend it.

If you are referring to the slimfit line, which you have to be since it is Sammys only CRT set, then you are giving the OP the worst advice in the world. The slimfit is well known as the WORST mainstream HDCRT made. There are tons of convergence and geometry problems as well as general build quality issues like too weak of a power supply.

Just wanted to add to the crappy of Slimfits, I'm on my 2nd.  The first had buzzing problems as well as some other minor things and now the one I exchanged it for has horrible bowing on the sides when playing games with either composite or component (didn't happen with cable TV or my hdmi DVD player for some reason) and has a big yellow spot in a corner (could only see it during Indigo Prophecy's pure white scenes).  I think I am going to request for my money back since I am not going to settle for a bottom of the barrel LCD or spend a fortune on an expensive one.  There is supposed to be a new Slimfit model coming out in April though...

I highly doubt it. They are cheap ass CRTs not worth their weight in plastic. Don't be so cheap... pick up a Sony CRT if you want a reliable cheap CRT.

Yeah, I wouldn't hold my breath for those problems to be fixed.  Those problems have been in earlier models and still persist to this day.  Sony's CRT?  Just make sure you have a forklift in your house.  Those things are bigger than my entire TV stand and weigh 190 pounds.

They do not make those any more, they make the bravia & xbr. The Wega was a term used quite a bit of time ago.

Although this is off topic, i would have to say you're wrong, BroweChisox. If you go to the sony website, you should see that they make Grand Wega LCD Rear projection TV's, some in 720p, others in 1080P.

He was referring to the old flat panels.... not projection sets. I believe the CRTs are still called Wega as well.
