The rumour about M$ trying to buy EA really worries me. What would happen to PS3? Is it even possible!? Damn!

Microsoft has already stated they have no intention of doing that, it was just BS.

uhhh.... not happening, it would be a dumb move by MS as it is gonna cost a small fortune(even for bill gates) to buy one of the largest gaming companies on the planet. and all we have gotten from them recently was MAdden 10, and the dragon age game is coming, but i think i ca nlive with out there last 2 good games: mirrors edge, and dead space...

EA wouldn't accept it. They get way too many sales from PS3 owners.

read the bottom of the gamespot article and you'll see that they deny it. But that don't mean much. Sony denied the slim and look now.

It's highly improbable, but not impossible. EA would lose such a high install base by merging with Microsoft. Unless EA was on it's last leg and was desperate, then I doubt that there's much to worry about. Besides I think EA would rather merge with SONY than Microsoft based on the technology alone.

There's an article on MSNBC http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33019564/ns/business-motley_fool/

and another one http://www.thedeal.com/dealscape/2009/09/doubting_the_ea_rumor.php

and another http://news.spong.com/article/19287/Microsoft-Denies-EA-Bid

Just do a google on "microsoft EA" and you'll find a ton more.

It might not make a difference. Microsoft might still want them to sell their games on rival consoles to make them a bit more profit.

Then M$ would be winning the console war even if their console wasn't.

Didn't think of it that way. But they could make all EA games exclusive and force people interested in EA games (which is a lot) to get a 360 and profit from there. These companies seem to be more focused on being the best console and dominating the system wars than gaining profit. Look at the sacrifices Sony made!

If (i use IF because i highly doubt this) M$£$£$£$£$£$£$ were to buy EA and still sell to all consoles, simply buy preowned copes of the game you want and no money goes towards Microsilk.

I might do this with MW2 'cause i hate Activision

The only thing I would miss from EA is Dead Space and Burnout. I would rather let the 360 owners get the madden games where you have to a buy new one every year, when they can easily update the roster and let you pay a fraction of that price and use it as DLC.

I think I would cry. Batllefield is my favourite franchise ever and since EA publishes the games and since I'm only playing on PS3, that would be a über kick in my gamer ****.

EA is a public company so MS can go directly to EA shareholders and buy them all out. It will take a small fortune and an entire nation lol to buy EA but IF it happened, it would change the game industry forever and for worse. Idk how the PS3 can go on with out EA because of EAs reach in lots of videogame genres and it would kill competition and just lead to crap games. I know its different but remember that the Dreamcast lasted only 2 yrs or so because it had no support from EA. It wasnt THE reason the Dreamcast failed but it certanly hurt a lot.

I certainly dont want this to happen, it will hurt EAs profit by cutting out PS3 software sales and it would take a looong time for MS to recoup its investment and create a monopoly, which in turn would ruin the video game industry for good.

ummm, im sorry but PS3 still has 2K. If MS bought out EA then Sony would head straight for 2K. End of story. That would mean no Bioshock for MS.

Even in the very remote chance that would ever happen, I think Microsoft would be smart enough not to **** with things much. At most, I could simply see that any big projects that would be released on 360 and/or Windows would see some additional/priority support from Microsoft to get the most out of their SDK's and platforms. In turn, Microsoft would kickback some ad/marketing money to EA's way. But realistically, I don't see this happening. Warts and all, EA is valuable as a third-party power, and likely wouldn't be interested in being bought and locked to a single vendor company.

EA is worth 14.1 billion dollars which microsoft could easily afford. if this was to happen it would do massive amounts of damageto the ps3 game collection.

also EA owns 20 percent of ubisoft which would mean microsoft would owns 20 percent of ubisoft and considering how popular ubisoft games are on the xbox 360 microsoft would probaly buy ubisoft aswell. also sony would not buy 2k because 2k is owned by take two which is worth about 5 billion and sony cant afford 5 billion because of the recession not to mention take two is a very stoborn company when it come to getting purchased. thank god i own a ps3 and 360

Then EA won't get money from: DS, PS2, PSP, PS3, Wii. Why would you stop making games and earning money from all those platforms?
