What if Sony DOESN'T show the PSP2 this week?

Everyone is expecting to hear about the PSP2 FINALLY this Thursday. However, we thought that it would be introduced at E3, TGS, GDC, and about 10 other moments. Given Sony's track record, there is still a 4.6% chance that there is no PSP2 shown Thursday. If that is the case, has Sony blown it's last chance to have a real shot at some decent market share in the handheld market? I say it's now or never Sony.

With the hefty price tag its probably gonna have, Im gonna stop following it and allocate money elsewhere if they dont at least announce it. I'll get around to it eventually when its cheaper like I did with the PSP. Hopefully we see it. But if not Im not going to worry about it.

It wouldn't be what you call a "now or never scenario" because of GDC but, from a PR stand point, stealing some of the 3DS thunder would mean striking asap.

The PSP2 is going to be announced at this event though. Typically, there are signs pointing to a now show the days or hours leading up to a possible PSP2 reveal (i.e. PSP Go details in 2009 or the reports of no PSP2 at the E3 2010 days before). Also, as the name implies, it's a Playstation event which means Sony is going to revealing big Playstation secrets.

I don't really see Kaz pulling the PSP2 out for all to see but, he will probably finally acknowledge the existence of the PSP2 and there will be some suitable discussions about the PSP2 specs, details about SDK availability, etc.

For some reason the latest spec leaks seem right. Maybe, I've just been speculating and dissecting rumors for too long. We'll see.

i think they will. holding a conference for just a 3D tv would be a waste

Yeah i agree TC. If sony is going to announce the psp2 its now or never because the 3DS has already started to steal the spotlight and if thats goes on too long unchecked it will be impossible for sony to gain a foothold.

To not announce it tomorrow would be stupidity to say the least. This is their one chance to take some of the 3DS sales.

I thought about them not announcing it. I thought it was so stupid for them not to announce it at last year's E3. But what ever I'm pretty sure they're gonna announce it now. If not well, the 3DS wins!

They're probably gonna reveal the PS Phone first. Now, It's not that I don't want them to announce the PSP2, I just don't think they're going to.

Lol. Yeah, the starving people wouldn't care. Just consumers of electronic products.

But, hey, I (and many other people reading this) are into consumer electronics so, I would be bummed. Chances are good, though. Kaz just talking hinting about it at CES, the name change to Playstation event, the rumors about Sony telling devs the PSP2 being as powerful as the PS3. Some detective work just tells me something is awry.

About 2 and a half more hours the event begins and we will all know. LETS ROCK.

if they don't I would say they would show it at GDC though its not a Trade Show like E3, but you never know.
