Just bought my PS3 a couple days ago and sadly it doesn't come with a mic... Since it doesn't even come with a mic , I'm starting to think most of the players online don't even use one. Unlike Xbox 360 where TWO mics come included in right out of the box. So do most players use mics in online matches such as Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, SF5 etc?

- 99% of people on socom use mics - about 40% of people on KZ2 use mics (from what I've encountered) - very few people use mics in LBP - 25% use mics in Burnout

(all of these are my estimates from what I've seen)

The good thing about people with mics on psn though (atleast most of the time) is that since they've had to put extra funds into the purchase, its not abused as much, with whining people or people playing music etc (although you still do get them, but I only get them in like 1% or less matches). I've put 60+ hours into KZ2 online and only once have I heard music playing over the mic, and it wasn't even on my team.

Ugh, it's horrible. I was just on Call of Duty World at War and there were 4 out of 12 who had mics. It's like that a lot. And there are those who have headsets but don't use them. All you hear is echoing from the game.

Oh ya, I hate that so much. The echoing is so annoying. If youre not going to use it just turn it off. :x

The age estimate I would say is 5-20

He probably means one with the console and one with the live kit.As for who uses mics, well that depends on the game.In games like Socom tons of people use them.

Yes, but he did say "right out of the box", which the xbox only comes with one. That may have been what he meant though, just not what was said.

well i am 23.. and i have 17 psn friends who average out to be about 28.. but online i would say 17-19 are average and very annoying.. due to not having in/cross game chat many people myself included talk over the computer.. either aim/yahoo chat.. so i only hook up my mic to the ps3 if i am not already talking to my psn friends over the computer.. or if i want to listen to music, i don't want to be a dick blasting my music over my mic..

The average age of mic users on PS3 is probably around 7. I haven't had a positive experience yet. So far it's just people breathing hard into their bluetooth, playing music, or having conversations with their mom in the other room.

I disagree with the average age. Most I've encountered are between 17-25 judging from their voices. Though I occasionally find myself in matches where some person is playing music in their headphone and it's usually rap. I hate rap...

Using a headset on PSN is a lot less in comparison to Xbox Live due to the fact Microsoft provides you with one and it plugs into your controller.

Depends on the game.... I think most people own mics, but are probably more like me only use them when they need them or if other people ask to chat.
