What is a good survival horror game?

It can be either coming out soon or that is out right now.

I already have Outlast, Until Dawn, and Pre ordered Dayz Gone, Visage/ Allison Road I might preorder as well, Am I missing anything else?

Re7. I've played it for a number of hours and love it so far. Get it.

@realistic44: I think The Evil Within/Psycho Break is pretty great. However it's a love-it or hate-it game, it does many things right and many things wrong, so really depends if you think the pros out-do the cons.

But other than that, if you're looking for classics, go for RE2, RE3, Alone in the Dark 4 (PS1), Fatal Frame (I think that's what it was called) and a number of Silent Hill games.

Evil Within and Alien Isolation I got at same time and love both, they are master class, the absolute best of their division in the Survival Horror Genre. Soma is a weak wanna be Alien Isolation, and can't say for certain what RE7 is, cause it seems like Outlast meets Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Amnesia games series is great. Penumbra isn't that great but still decent enough. I hear Corpse Party and Zombi are good, I've obtained 1 of them, but waiting for a good time. Also FEAR games are classic and so is Left for Dead.

Try Silent Hill 2 & 4, or the Resident Evil REmake. Those are pretty solid titles.

@realistic44: Resident Evil 7 has some pretty decent bosses, especially the first two are very big standouts. And I also liked the twists in what was really going on in the home. Really makes you feel sorry for the Baker Family_

Despite being very satified with the game as well; I'd still like them to patch in a 3rd person view mode, the linear map areas don't suit its FPS perspective. Only area I felt comfortable with the combat for the space was the Trailer Park, and main hall area. In every other place it was a hassle. But that happens when a game is built more for a headset gimmick.

Dead Space.

I wish they'd remastered Dead Space 1,2,3. I don't care for most remasters but Dead Space was probably one my favorite series from last gen.

Does The Last of Us fall into this genre?

Playing a Survival Horror and playing The Last of Us is night and day. Both are enjoyable but very different experiences.

@fearthenight: I love the dead space series, although 3 kinda disappointed me. I would love to see a remastered pack of that game. DS1 is still is one of my favorite survival horror game. Its been a while since I last played it.

@Liquid_: Hum abduction looks interesting. I have been looking for an alien/survival horror game for a while. They need to make a dinosaur one as well. How about Agony?

honestly the mechanics look pretty bad for Agony, it's trying to do some new age gore-fest.

looks like a serious Doom, but with potato sensitivity and movement.

@realistic44: If you haven't played the Metro series yet, I'd try that as well.

Has survival horror elements, even though most would classify it as a shooter.

Just make sure to play on the harder difficulties so that ammo is actually scarce.
