I really like Dragon Age. It's a role playing game where you do gain experience and go up levels and choose where to put your skill points kind of like Oblivion, but there are many differences also. You start alone but quickly gain party members to travel and fight with you. You've got freedom to tackle quests in any order you want but feels more structured than Oblivion. You will have control over how they develop as well. I'm about 40-50 hours into the game (over a 5 month period) and still enjoying it. It's not a perfect game but neither is any other game I know of. If you get it I hope you enjoy it!
Well i've only played the PC version but i'm sure the PS3 version is almost as good. if so everything the above poster said about the game is all you need to know really. and that the game is great. much better then Oblivion imo. but i also didnt like oblivion, terrible combat, terrible magic, terrible level up system.
It's like, BROKEN at the moment lol... Apparently PS3 firmware 3.3 causes random freezing on DA:O, so I wouldn't get it on PS3 until it's fixed.

Oh yeah, I heard that too. Luckily I got my plat before then ;) unluckily I haven't even started Awakenings yet :(
The game crashes indeed . Happened 4 times on me in 1 hour play . Gonna wait now until the patch is ready .

Do we have any info on the patch? I want to finish the game before Alan Wake comes out but I don't want to play if it's going to crash constantly.
[QUOTE="Wolfetan"]or how about a warm hot soup of milky delight served with a zesty plate of spiffyness.... That sounds very spiffy. Yes me and you spreading the use of spiffy instead of epic.Pure awesomeness, wrapped with awesomeness, in an epic dip. With a side of spectularness, served on plates made of joy.

I've been playing Awakenings for quite a while (probably around 6 hours) and I think it froze around 3 or 4 times. I haven't been playing the main game so I don't know how bad it is there. I haven't heard anything about a patch, but I'd have to assume they're working on it. I know they know about it so at least that's a start.
It's an RPG so the gaining XP, gold, levelling up, buying/selling armor,/ weapons, etc. is the same as Oblivion but there the similarities end.
Personally I much prefer Oblivion but that might just be me. I found the story bland, the voice acting terrible, the characters predictable and awesful and the reliability of the game abysmal. When I first played the sound would keep dropping out and the cut scenes were jerky. A couple of weekends ago I was tying to play further but the game froze on me every 2-15 minutes.
All that has probably led to an over negative opinion on the game from mebut hopefully my dot points above are free from bias and help you out.

There's a very big topic (80 pages) on the official bioware forums regarding crashes since update 3.3 . The last official comment was that bioware has the problem fixed and have sent their patch for playtesting to EA . Once they give green lights, we are back on fire . The freezing problem is very random . Sometimes you can play for hours, otherwise the game crashes after 9 minutes .
