You know how xbox 360 has the elite as the best buy, what's the best buy for the ps3? I don't know what bundles they sell it in. I never looked at buying a ps3 til now.
Currently the best out (in my opinion) would be the Metal Gear Solid 4 / 80 GB / Dual-Shock 3 bundle.
If you want to play only PlayStation 3 games and no PlayStation 2 games, then currently, a 40 GB PS3 would be best.
That said, there is $100 price difference between the 40 GB and 80 GB bundles, and, along with an extra 40 GB of space, you also get backward compatibility with most PS2 games, a copy of MGS 4, and the new Dual-Shock/Sixaxis controller.

mgs4 bundle is insane. i wish i waited for it. instead i paid 599 for the console by itself and an obsolete sixaxis and now my ps3 stopped working after the warranty. make sure u get an extended warranty, or sony will rip u off.
