what is the best way to setup the settings and stuff to hook up a ps2 to a hdtv so it wont have a stretched out screen, just make it 16:9 or u need component cables?
Component cables bring out the colours and crispness of textures in PS2 titles from standard composite cables, and select games with widescreen and/or progressive scan support will see a decent graphical upgrade. However, do not expect your PS2 games from looking better on an HDTV than on a standard TV set. All you are doing is smoothing out the textures of games that run in 480i, or 480p at best. Ideally, it is still recommended to play your PS2 games on a SDTV, as the lower resolution will hide a large amount of detail that would be exposed in all their ugly glory on an HDTV set.
