It took me a while before I realized I could shut off the PS3 by holding my finger on the on/off button on the front of the PS3 for a few seconds.

What other things can the PS3 do that are not widely known or maybe just unused?

You see that little PS symbol on the front of the PS3? You can twist it so that it can remain upright whether you have the console laying flat, or stood vertically.

So, you managed to realise that the ON/OFF button turns the machine off? Well done.

The little PS logo has been able to twist since the PS2.

Auto-login is not a widely unknown feature since there is a box that says Auto-Login on the Login page.

If the PS3 had features that people didn't know about, Sony wouldn't be making anywhere near as much money.

I found this on YouTube and I decided to try it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICHhn1-NH14

It works a bit but it isn't too sharp so you may not notice. And it only worked with the funky visual player.

But aside from that, I rotate the logo on the front to match the vertical orientation. But these days, I mostly have it standing up.

When I first rotated the PS logo I thought I broke it. It's definitly one of the most "underrated" features on the PS3

I think people know 99% of them really, however the visualizer on music, not many people know that if you download the latest version of 'Folding at Home' you get an extra visualiser, which is actually the earth in HD, pretty cool i think. And lots of people dont use Folding so wouldnt know.

And even those who do, dont know that when ur on a song to press square to get the visual up....

I think I know of most of them (the thing with the R analog stick on the music visual players was a new one for me, though). The voice changer is probably one of the moer unknown ones, though. Maybe those 10 year old hoes on COD4 can actually use that to sound more freakin mature!!!!

Anyway, I didn't know that Folding at Home gave you the Earth visual. Mainly cuz I just installed Folding at Home right after I saw it available, and back then, I had no music yet.

This is good, I found this really by accident once. Everyone that sees this really likes it. I hope they keep adding to this.
Fly-bys of other planets would be a welcome addition. Flights through the asteroid belts. All in hi-def.

Actually, the Earth visualiser came in one of the updates awhile back. Don't remember which one but I know it didn't come with Folding@Home because I've had it before I installed Folding:)

I agree. Remote play all together is something that I don't hear many people mention, even though it's one of the best features of the PS3 in my opinion.

Is that really a feature? Im totally too gullible today. I assume everyone knows this already with their ps3, but to those who I talked about, usually who don't have a ps3 didn't know you can change the look of your PS3 for free and also can save your movies onto the PS3 hard drive. And also upgrading the hard drive (people think that your breaking the warranty, lol) But the most underrated, IMO, would be backing up all your save files on ANY sd card. Even PS1/PS2 saves :-P

***to turn a controller off, hold the PS button then select that option.

connecting your PS3 to your computer is awesome, no need to store music on the system and can stream videos instantly

You can mix themes together. Select a theme that has the icon, font, and sounds you want, then go to wallpaper and select a different background.
