Well people are different and Home will please many. So because you don't like something doesn't mean much. As for me i don't really care about Home as i'm not very social and i find it troublesome to spend hours with a digital avatar. But that doesn't mean much too, because many people are interested in that kind of services. Who knows it might be really good when it launches later this year.
I think the true purpose of home is not only for players to socialize, but also for Sony to pull in a valuable source of revenue. Not only will they make money from people who buy stuff from home, but from large companies who want to advertise within Home. I'm very excited about this for the PSN, as it'll be a way to keep it free.

no its not coming in 1.6 a beta is in april and full thing comes out in november......i like it for the CLAN possibiliteies where you make a clan room and have your clan to make srtategies... but there lucky they put in headset ylaking or else i wouldnt be usingi t!Â

I think it has to be the dumbest either ever. Why couldn't they create a simple interface? All of this is just useless junk.
If they did create just a simple interface, ppl would automatically blame sony for "IMITATING TEH XBLZORZ!!!1!!!1+shift" What sony is trying to do is to make something origional, and to me, the avatars, customizations, and apartments are just icing on the cake.
Plus you don't HAVE to use home every time you want to play online, and the idea of inviting your clan back to your space to discuss strategies and show them some of your videos and other media sounds cool.
I don't know. I think it's the sort of thing that people need to use first before making final judgments. I just hope it makes it easier for me to get into games with people in my friends list, or makes the whole online process a bit more accessible.
PS3 Home is what we've all seen on Sci-Fi and Discovery coming to life. Looks like in about 10 years, when virtual reality becomes 3D, meeting people hidden behind fake holograms will be the way we do everything, from seeing relatives who live far away to communicating on business meetings - just the way the media portrays it. The future is now, guys, and PS3 brings it to life unlike anything else.
I cant wait for Home, I'll make this amazing house which is going to be the most amazing art gallery you'll ever see and its going to have some Beethoven documentary and music everywhere. The point is you make it AS YOU WISH. Its nothing is you have no imagination, and its amazing if you have some.
Imo its like the sims....but just about 100x better.

Stop comparing it to the Sims. The Sims is a game not some digital world where all you do is talk to people and watch clips of movies or decorate your "apartment". It's not even close to the same thing.

the point of home is for people who want to use it can use it. it's not that hard to figure out unless you're from microsoft who searches online for advice from sony 'cuz they don't know stuff
Home is hype and not much more at this point. Console owners want a system to match up and play games. They don't want to organize furniture and wade through a virtual world. Walking around in a virtual world talking to people I don't know doesn't interest me at all. There are people that want these features though. They are on 2nd Life or playing Sims and aren't going to pay $600 to do it on the PS3. Also......this isn't going to be free. This is an MMO, with lots of servers, new content.....and will likely have a monthly fee. Ads and the sale of fake furniture won't pay for this service and Sony has to make money at some point, since they aren't making it on the console. I guarantee that there will be a monthly fee.

The point is having it. If M$ or Nintendo released something like HOME, you would have saying it is all great and all that... How come sony is not allow to release it?
the whole point if home is to prove that while xbox live might be a good system, there is always going to be something that can beat it. and making a virtual 3d world is about the only way to do that. and it means that you have something elese to do on those rainy days besides playing games and posting on forums about how something sucks just because you dont like it. nuff said

Because only about 1/2 the buyers of Wii could afford PS3. Look at how many sales Wii made and look how many Sony has. If you tell me it's because Sony has shortages of console units at stores, I will laugh at you. My local Target had about 3 in stock when I bought mine, and so does Walmart across the street. I'm sure it's simply because people are willing to spend $300 for "Wii Home" but not $600 for the real deal.
