The fun in fighting games is fighting, which you may not enjoy, but there are many people who do. I don't like all fighting games, but I do like some. UFC Undisputed is one of my favourite games of all time.
Wow, this must be the most stupid gaming question I've heard in a while. :P

I agree. But to answer the question he asked: live out a fantasy? Beat the hell out of a guy or girl and suffer no backlash. To have fun. To provide a challenge. Whats the point of any game? Its all the same. To entertain you.
What huh? The point of fighting games--and any game, for that matter-- is to have fun. If you don't think it's fun, then don't play it. Problem Solved.
For me, the fun was learning new moves, mastering harder combos and playing against my friends. The last fighter I really got into was Soul Calibur 2 back on the gamecube.

If you were smart, you would look at the date i wrote the two posts, and would know that i wrote "Stunning Games" before i played Tekken, hearing all the awesome reviews and everything, when i played it, i realized that Fighting games are not really fun, ergo it all makes perfect sense.i just play a fighting game if my friends play since it's fun owning your friends and saying "wow you're amazing..." something like that...

the fun in fighting games comes from competitive multiplayer.Mastering combos, learning the game's mechanics, learning how to counter other characters etc. The depth is what makes it fun. It's definately not for everybody, though.Vyylent5
This.
Also, I find them to be the finest form of competative gaming.
Particularly at the arcade, or with a few mates at home.
The same as in any other video game have fun, laugh when cpu does funny things etc.All i see in fighting games is

Lol , seriously , is that all you see in Fighting Games? I admit , some of them , or rather , the most of them , have absolutely no sense of a decent plot nor storyline but the gameplay is it's forte.
Firstly , Fighting games are really hard to get used to , the controls are incredibly difficult , not as in the petty punches and hacking but formulating efficient combos and using them at the right time proves to bea challange. You also need split second thinking in order to execute the right moves at the right time. ( Imagine using a slow attack when the enemy is using fast and jabby attacks =.= )
Secondly , their extremely challenging , especially if the difficult is tuned up.
Thirdly , various fighting games have various features. ( For example , I remember that the Capcom VS Marvel having a Partner Feature and Ryu can turn into several forms )
Come to think of it , fighter games are slowly losing their touch =.= In the past , in classics like Street Fighter , the VS series , Pocket Fighter etc. etc. The battles are more amusing IMO. 3D fighters' controls are a bit toocomplex for my liking.
Yeah, maybe fighting games may be just repeating its gameplay over and over but its getting better and better, especially the graphics. And the thing about fighting games is probably the versus battles against another player and owning them or just have fun playing it with your friends. That counts.
What put me away from fighting games was frame counting. Soul Calibur and Virtua Fighter were my favorite games. I got pretty good at them just by beating the computer. Then I got a lot better by playing real people. All of this was just from practicing. But then, I started to encounter pros...
They were people that were breaking the game by counting the number of frames for every animation and making moves dependant on that which has absolutely nothing to do with fighting whatsoever. Soon I realised that I could never be as good as them because I didn't count frames. I was told to go on some stupid website and to memorise some frame charts if I really wanted to be good. I would have to remember how long it took Kilik to do this move and that one... Being good at the games meant turning them into homework - something I didn't want. I just wanted to pick some characters, do cool moves and have fun - not break the game. Ever since I have been put off from fighting games completely.
UFC Undisputed was a breath of fresh air because it didn't require any of that crap. But the online servers are dead now and so it's pretty much a cupholder...
Now I just stick to kung-fu movies for my fighting fix.
