I got my ps3 like a week ago and its been having problems.

After about 10 minutes of gameplay the fan volume will become really loud. Its not in an enclosed area, its out in the open.

I like my room pretty cold so the temperature in my room shouldn't be a problem to where the ps3 overheats.

But then after another hour of me playing, the fan will sieze its loudness and become silent.

I called the manufacturer and they said that they can't do anything about it. I even asked for a replacement but they said that I must have done something to it.

Has anyone had this problem? Please help.

Take it back to the store and get another one. Where do you live that they can refuse to replace it like that? I wish they would try to tell me something like that here.

I'm guessing your in europe?

The eu launch ps3 had the problem where the fan would spin faster to accomadte for extra heat (like loading a game) and not slow down again after the heat causing process had left.

It was a fault in the fan mechanisme thingy. It does not harm your ps3 but it does make more noise and will not become quiter untill shutdown.

Just bring it back, It's not a console breaking problem but still I didn't find out about it in mine untill a month or so afterwards when it started showing up in the forums and I noticed mine had the same problem, by then I had too many saves to be bothered to bring it back.

Mine never gets loud. I have to get down and put my ear by my PS3 to hear it.

You're not unlucky, there's probably just something wrong with your PlayStation 3. I would advise you to take it back to the store you purchased it from, and buy a new one. If that doesn't work, than contact Nintendo, their number should be on the console somewhere, and tell them the situation. I'm sure they'll give you some helpful hints on how to fix the problem.

If it is only a week old take it back to the store and get another one. If they will refund your money wait until September and get the new 80g god of War bundle PS3.

I'd be worried if you didn't hear the fan at all. Unless your PS3 freezes, it shouldn't be a problem. Besides, it's still quieter than the 360...

If you cant return it, and Sony won't help I'd try to invest in an additional fan to see if it prevents the stock fans from kicking on at a higher speed.

I've had mine since '06, occasionally the fan gets a little loud, not too loud, just a little noticeable, and only for a brief moment, usually whhen loading games...

Otherwise its as quiet as a church mouse.

I don't notice it all.

I doubt yours has any serious problems but hey, if you worried then return it.
