Is it good?

Nice game to play through once, but once that's done there's no reason to keep it, let alone play it again.
I always thought it looked like an interactive movie, like Heavy Rain (which I could not get into). For that reason, I never really had an interest in this one.jordonjIt's story driven and all, but you do have some freedom. I wouldn't compare it to Heavy Rain, but it doesn't have a whole lot of action compared to other games. It's somewhat realistic.

Why not? What if you collect games? I hate this ignorant mindset. Hey, what if you want to play the game eight months after you completed it?? Buy it again I guess....
If you enjoy playing as a Detective in 1940's LA, solving murders and enjoying the scenery of a beautiful re created LA, shooting enemies here and there then buy it. It can be played entirely in black and white too which is a really nice touch.

Err... he asked for my opinion, and I'm stating it. If you got another one, feel free to say it. There's no need to be defensive about something you're not even a part of. I do collect games, some of them I've only played once, yet LA Noire is one of two games I ever traded in because I know I wouldn't want to play it again after "eight months." And yeah, I got 35 bucks for trading it in, if I buy it now I can get it for less than 20, so yupe buying it again would be better.
Its a great game!
i think a lot of people dont like it cause its NOT ACTION PACKED SHOOTING EVERYTHING THAT MOVES WITH 10000 THINGS GOING IN THE SCREEN!
but actually i really liked it, is slow paced, you drive around in old fashioned cars from the 40´s, nice looking and have lip sync or i dont know hows that called.
the game its kind of a movie itself, solving crimes, reading peoples faces, trying to find who the killer or criminal is, and also you can charge the wrong guy and so on... you get stars at the end of the cases according, with damage done, clues finded, interrogation skills, etc..
a nice, beautiful, well made game
the only bad thing i could see its that, after a while the interrogations become repetitive.. i played it twice... maybe i will give another go in a while.
Yep, it was like playing a 1940s movie. Interrogations were well done I reckon. Its a great game!

It seems like a game you either love or hate. A lot of people have returned it disappointed, while others really enjoyed it, giving it 10/10, and would replay it. My opinion; ehh, yeah, it was a good game, but always felt like something was missing. I don't really know what, though.
SOme of the cases seemed a bit stupid and it really irritated me that I couldn't solve the crimes the way I wanted to do, and sometimes I just wish you could type your own interegation questions. The game has beautiful graphics, though some faces look odd at times. I know there was suppose to be some kind of elaborate "car hunt", but I felt it never mattered coz the car you used was always "levelled" in a way so that the car you chased always was slightly faster. The ending also really ruined it for me... I didn't like it. At certain points in the game, you have the choice to fire a bullet into the air and give the runaway-culprit a chance to surrender; this happened far too seldom. On one mission you were suppose to follow a car, but if you got too close, the car would "notice" you... this makes zero sense when the car you're chasing stops at a red light, and you have to stop 3-4 blocks away to stay unnoticed... what is the most suspicious?!
I believe the game is worth a rent, but not necesserily a buy.
It is a decent game. It is not really as special a game as it was made out to be when it was released
I didn't like it and I just couldn't get into the Cole Phelps character plus his smug face was annoying. I think Dan Houser should have wrote the story as I personally think it would have been better.
It's a good game, but it has some glaring flaws in the interrogation system and Cole's uncalled for outbursts.
Currently playing through this actually. There are 21 main cases (the main story line) in addition to other random acts to do in the game. I'm at case 17 and can say I was thrilled for the first 14, the last few have gotten repetitive and I think that the story is dragging on a bit. Overall it is still a solid 8/10 and perfect if your looking for a game that is different from almost all other games
I am currently playing through this game as got a free copy on my PC when i pre-ordered Max Payne 3. Gotta say I am enjoying it more then I did Max Payne 3 when I played that on the PS3. Greaat game although I seriously suck at interegations! Great atmosphere, great facial animations and some amusing missions.
At first it doesn't seem like anything special, but it isn't long before the noir story of murder and mystery becomes thoroughly gripping from case to case. The gameplay is unique and absorbing, overall a terrific detective game.
It's ok. Great atmosphere, great detail. But the story is sh*t. Typical interogation by Cole Phelps -
Cole: "So Mr. John Q Public, where were you at around 11:30 last night?"
John: "I was at work. I'm on the night shift."
Cole: "STOP LYING TO ME!!!!!!!!"
John: "I'm not lying. My supervisor and 50 other people at my work place can vouch for me being there."
Cole: "I AM GOING TO SHOVE MY GUN UP YOUR ASS AND FIST-F*CK YOUR FACE IF YOU DON'T COME CLEAN WITH ME!!!!"
Also the writers were way too hung up on the Black Dahlia thing. The homicide segment of the game was seriously tedious. I have other issues with the story, but I won't say anything else as I don't want to spoil it for others. Although I have yet to actually finish the game.

Other than the homicide chapters being a bore and the outcomes being the same no matter how good or bad you do I did like this game alot, Its different and still offers you freedom. Its worth playing and its super cheap now with all the DLC included.
Yeah, you can totally flub the investigation and interrogations and still you get to arrest the guy. I would have liked a more open ended game where you could potentially arrest the wrong person, with consequences, or with the possibility of not making an arrest at all. That's how it goes in real life. The police often don't catch the bad guy and sometimes then ever catch the wrong guy. Having these possibilities in the game would have made your actions and decisions feel more weighty.
Well, it's not like you can totally screw up the investigation and still continue. There are definitely times were you messed up bad enough you have to restart the case.Yeah, you can totally flub the investigation and interrogations and still you get to arrest the guy. That's true, but it would be cool if instead of restarting the case if you arrested the wrong guy, it would be more realistic if you link the evidence wrong and arrested the wrong guy
As mentioned by many other people, Cole's interrigations are probably the worst part of the game, he's such a jack a*!

So you restart the case. No different from dying and restarting. Still you work through the case and still arrest the guy no matter what. Didn't get the location of the suspect from the person you just interrogated? That's ok, follow him and he'll conveniently lead you to the suspect? Get your questions wrong during the interview at the station? That's ok, your captain will tell you who to arrest.

If you're interrogating someone, you have to be an ass to them. Your trying to break them down mentally so they feel powerless and cornered and start spilling out information. It's mind games. Cole does exactly what he's suppose to do: his job. It's worth a playthrough but I didn't like how if you guessed wrong with a witness it just continued as normal.
its definitely a good game. the crime scenes are really well done as they get the player to systematically examine these grizzly displays. it really puts the player in the detective's shoes. the interrogations, however, are thrilling as they work in more suspects and get you to play them off each other. i was just disappointed that they moved away from the biggest strengths of the game for the ending.
the LA team bondi made is great, but i think their is a "best" way to experience it. there are collectables to find on foot and side missions to partake in. id recommend avoiding those altogether. the side missions almost all involve shoot outs and it kind of takes away from the better ones youll find in the main missions. the collectibles require you to walk which is fittingly not how you should experience LA. traveling by car lets you listen to the radio programs (they all tie in to the themes of the cases in some way or other), do some cheap touristy site seeing that works with the pulpy nature of the game, and i just love that team bondi made potholes in the streets. it makes the game feel grittier and honestly crappy streets just work really well in a game about corruption.

I guess wrong almost every time with this game!! I am actually sick of guessing wrong every time.. I would make a rubbish cop. I kind of feel cheated that even though i suck at it, me being wrong makes no real difference at allo. It owuld be cool if people got away with murders etc.
