I currently have a 120GB hard drive for my PS3, which is actually a replacement of an old 40GB one. I might buy a 1TB drive in a few months, but I forgot the specifics of the drive that I will need. Can someone tell me what drive type I will need that is 1 TB? Also, please make sure that its available on Tigerdirect, because I have an account on that website.

The Ps3 can only read up to 500GB so getting a TB drive would be pointless. You need to get a laptop Sata hard drive

You need an external HDD to back up your current files on your PS3. Then you need a 2.5" SATA notebook HDD (up to 500GB)

You need a 2.5" SATA drive, speed doesn't matter. 320GB is at a sweet spot in terms of price right now, but 500GB isn't unreasonable. Don't think there are any affordable sizes above that, and it's possible (as mentioned) that the PS3 doesn't support anything larger so there's no point anyway.

Yup that would work fine, remember though like I mentioned previously, back up your files so you don't lose your saves etc.

There's a tutorial here on GS on how to install the HDD but it's really simple, just remember to have a 0pt or 1pt screwdriver so you don't strip the screws when taking out the old HDD. A lot of people have gone to extreme lengths and used needle-nose pliers which, imho, is stupid since you're more prone to stripping the screwheads.
